Lure Craft bites--vent

Recommended Posts

Ok, so Del and I finally worked out some new molds. Now I am ready to begin pouring my own. All excited. Ordered the molds, plastic and oil from Del. Gotta get glitter and color and etc, etc. So everyone says LC is the way to go not to mention they are less on most items compared to Barlow and others (I've got the spreadsheet to prove it)

I get home, look through my LC catalog, write it all out so I don't overspend. Get to work, first thing- call to LC. order placed :D . But she needs to call me back to confirm pricing (HUH?) She leaves me a message this afternoon- WOW 27% HIGHER than calculated from the catalog :pissed: And because the unit pricing went up, I had to pay higher shipping too. (so don't tell me they don't make $ on s&h they're not sending anymore than before and USPS rates did not change this week)

I call her back. "What catalog are you using?" she asks "2003, the only one I have received" I said. "Oh, that's the problem, we just sent out the 2004 last week and we changed all pricing to reflect that" she says. :censored::censored:

Had I placed my order last week, all would have been at the old pricing $49.99 vs $63.41

One week to deliver new catalogs? Not via USPS to the left coast.

Not the best way to treat a new customer. Back to the spreadsheet to update (once I get a new catalog that is). LC has left a bad taste in my mouth that I am sure that will surface on any future orders.

Yea, I've had to 'gargle' to get rid of the taste after a couple of LC orders as well.

If I had to rate LC on a scale of 1-10, I would give them a 5. One time service is great, the next it's o.k. and the next it's terrible! But if prices went up, I might give them a 4, unless the service gets better!

I have never had a problem with LC. I asked last time I called when 2004 catalog would come out and only answer was soon. Sounds like I will have to compare prices again. Stamina blows! I ordered some buzzbait bodies and they took eight weeks to come in and every time that I inquired as to the status they never answered. :pissed:

If you had a problem with LC let them know. Have dealt with them for about 6 years now without issue & have always had stand up service from Dave, whether on an order, FET question, special item, etc...

Best way to get good pricing from any of the suppliers is thru bulk...5gal and up or they are all about the same.

Likewise. I've dealt with Dave (LC) for quite a few years now and have had no problems. In fact on one order a couple of bottles of glitter broke(what a mess) and Dave gave me credit no questions asked.

They have always treated me well.

Maybe this explains why the order I placed with LC three weeks ago disappeared. I got a confirmation from their website, but when it never arrived they said it wasn't in their system. Now if I were to reorder (I won't) the price would be up. I won't do business with LC again.

In all fairness to lc I never had problems with them either. I have had 2 things put on back order and its gotten to me with in 2 weeks, which I thought was more than reasonable. Sometimes you have something in stock and then you get alot of people buying them out in 2 days and run out of stock.

They are a good bunch of people.

I have been doing business with LC for a lot of years.. they have made mistakes but they have treated me pretty good and I really can't complain

I also order a lot from Stamina.. I have found that ordering from their website is a nightmare..

on the other hand.. when I call my orders in and ask if what I want is in stock my orders go fine and I usually get them in 4 days.. they do have a problem with stock.. if they don't have in stock.. I never back order.. just call Jams or someone else..

I also have not been totally please with them, but at least they have done the right thing and came through when they made a mistake. I recently order a pot from them and it was out of stock to the send the stuff they had and said they would send the pot when they got it. That would been fine but I was in a hurry for a pot so I emailed them back asking to switch to the cheaper pot and send some other stuff I needed to make up for the difference in cost. Well instead of doing what I asked the sent the big pot that costs more and the stuff I had asked them to send with the small pot and charged my back without my approval. Well that unapproved charge put me into NSF and my bank charged me $28 in fees. That made me kinda hot, so I called them up and complained, But they made it right and credited my account the $28 again. Their also really bad at answering emails. So I have learned with them you need to call to get anywhere.

My experiences with LC, like with all the other suppliers, has been good and bad. It's not like there is a lot of retailers out there that cater to our hobby (business). I do a spreadsheet comparison also ? and it demonstrates that there isn't one supplier that carries everything all the time ? and is cheaper. Unfortunately ? I want what I want when I want it so I'm at the mercy of all the mail order suppliers. Fortunate for me this is a hobby ? if it were a business thing, I would expect more?

I just have to wonder when the last time Lurecraft raised their prices was. I haven't been in the lure thing for long but Lurecraft seems to have had good prices for the last couple of years. Does anyone know when

they last raised their prices??? 2.20 a gallon for gas here..... :pissed:

I have been buying my coloring from Color Technologies. They are great to do buisness with and seem to go out of thier way to help you no matter how big or small you are. The smallest quanity that they sell coloring in is quart or in thier price list 2#. Some prices are pretty cheap and some are pretty high. If you buy a 2# bucket (quart) you have to add $3.00 per pound or $6.00 per quart. Black adds up to $9.40 per quart. If I did my math right that is $0.29 per ounce compared to LC $2.59 per ounce. But some prices like I said are high like two tones. Some of these are $78.00 per 2# or (quart). They also take credit cards or you can open an account. If you are interested the number is 1-912-842-2653. The person that you want to talk to is Bruce McElroy. Also this coloring has more pigments in than LC and you don't seem to need as much. They have also started selling fleck and also sell plastic (good stuff) and sent.
