I have been interested in getting into making stick baits as well and know the basic formula is 1/2 salt to however much plastic is used ( i.e. 4 oz plastisol 2 oz. salt). I have read a lot about guys having problems trying to use hot plates and meet this ratio and still come out with consistent baits because of the salt sinking to the bottom of the cup. My question is it possible to use a hot plate and still get a consistent salted bait either by injection or pouring? If so, what is the secret? MonteSS Posted October 17, 2011 Report Share Posted October 17, 2011 I use 1 tablespoon per 4 oz. I handpour and cant use more than that or it gets too thick to pour. I will be injecting soon. MonteSS Posted October 18, 2011 Report Share Posted October 18, 2011 It's decent. I would like it a little faster sink. I use Caney Creek soft and they are a good softness as is. I fish them wacky and like them a little firm. Durability is very very good. I am going injection and will try a little more salt.
