EvinrudeAggie
Hi everyone, I use a hot plate with 4 oz. aluminum cups to pour and inject my baits. I have been interested in getting into making stick baits as well and know the basic formula is 1/2 salt to however much plastic is used ( i.e. 4 oz plastisol 2 oz. salt). I have read a lot about guys having problems trying to use hot plates and meet this ratio and still come out with consistent baits because of the salt sinking to the bottom of the cup. My question is it possible to use a hot plate and still get a consistent salted bait either by injection or pouring? If so, what is the secret? I like using the hot plate set up and really don't want to go microwave. Thanks for any advice.

EvinrudeAggie
Am I mistaken on the salt to plastic ratio? Even if the ratio is less, is it possible to use a hot plate and keep salt suspended throughout the cup while pouring or injecting?
EvinrudeAggie
Sorry about the typo earlier I meant to say 4 oz. plastisol 2 tsp. salt
MonteSS
I use 1 tablespoon per 4 oz. I handpour and cant use more than that or it gets too thick to pour. I will be injecting soon. Sorry I am not answering your question though.
EvinrudeAggie
monte, do you get a good sink rate with that ratio?
MonteSS
It's decent. I would like it a little faster sink. I use Caney Creek soft and they are a good softness as is. I fish them wacky and like them a little firm. Durability is very very good. I am going injection and will try a little more salt. May need to add softener then. ....Bill
