CMARTIN269
has anybody seen this bait ,or tried building one?
smalljaw
That didn't take long...lol. I've seen it and to tell you the truth I think it is going to fade pretty fast because it is a very situational type of rig, that is why you are only hearing about it now. That rig was developed for a very specific situation, suspended fish in the fall and it takes up a lot of space to keep with you all the time. Clint M
exactly smalljaw. I ordered two last week and got em in before the craziness. I think they will work because of the new bait factor. It will be just like anything else. The fish will get used to it and blamo! Doesnt work anymore. ioiosoiwork
http://www.thealabamarig.com/ from the looks of it it's a "umbrella style" rig ?, multiple fish ? gotta be hard on em if your into catch & release?

Clint, the new bait factor is one reason it will work for a bit but it will continue to produce but the conditions have to be right and with this type of rig the window for the right kind of conditions is very small. It may catch a few in the summer or spring but it isn't going to produce the massive stringers like the pros are getting on it now and the reason is, 1. It is a new offering the fish haven't seen before, and 2. It is designed for suspended bass in the fall, the time of year were forage species are bigger and the fish following bait looking for easy meals to get ready for winter. As I said, it is so situational that once the fish move out to winter haunts and then move shallow in spring and you don't hear of massive stringers being caught, it will disappear. Clint M
Well im with you and the most likely reason for disappearance is legality. FLW released some info yesterday about fishing it in Tennessee. It cant be fished the way it is right now. So catch em while you can. I ordered a hydrowave and im about to start some major testing on it. Ill be sure and let you in on my results.

Clint M
What would be the best way to join the wires in the front? I mean joining the five wires to the one tie?
Tony Maxwell
Better check your state fishing regs prior to use. Ohio has a 3 hook per rod limit and you can use 2 rods at a time. Indiana used to be 3 rods, but only 2 hools per rod. Don't know for sure what it is now.
mikefishnfl
I replied to one of you in a message but the way I did my five wires was to simply bend the end to 90 degrees so it can't pull out.
