Gloomisman
Do you guys have any issues with bubbles forming in one of these molds? Any issues with salt clogs? I bought an injector and some molds but looking to get a stick mold again too. I use to have a standard top pour but I sold it because of this reason. Some reason I shook too bad or something. SHK
i have a bunch of Bears 5 cav stick molds. no issues at all. they will need to be topped off after initial injection, i usually inject, hold light pressure for a five count and top off the sprue and move on to the next. SHK
i have found Bob, that if you use a super fine salt like the stuff Bear and LC sell it suspends great and cuts down on the need for stirring.
MonteSS
I switched from pickling salt to the powdered stuff from Bears. Big big difference. The powdered salt suspends better and flows better. As said, stir well. I also have two new extra Bears 5" 5 cavity stick molds for sale if you are interested. ...Bill
Gloomisman
Thanks guys. I think most of my air was from me hitting the sides of the mold. I'm going to look into getting one of these to try out once I get my other stuff. On the salt I've always used regular salt and hit it with a blender to make a salt powder. On injecting these do you guys use a pan/hotplate only? Seems the real logical way. Edited November 1, 2011 by Gloomisman
Bass-Boys
make sure your salt is 100% dry , Humidity will cause it to get lumps in your salt package.
oksparks
I heat my salt to 350 degrees on the hot plate before adding to the plastic. This gets all the moisture out and doesn't cool your plastic.
