Laker1
I AM NEW TO TU. I WISH MAKE MUSKY BUCKTAILS APPROX 10 ' LONG THIS WINTER, MAYBE 5 - 10 AT THE MOST. I WILL BE USING .051 WIRE. THIS COULD TURN INTO A REAL HOBBY FOR ME AND I EXPECT TO INVOLVE OTHERS AS TIME GOES ON. PLEASE ADVISE IF I SHOULD BUY THE EXPENSIVE HAGENS WITH MUSKY DIE KIT OR JUST BUY A WIRE FORMER SUCH AS THE DUBRO. IT SEEMS TO ME FROM THE LITERATURE I HAVE RECEIVED THAT THE HAGENS WIRE FORMER IS NOT MULTI PURPOSE. BUT I COULD BE WRONG. CAN I USE THE HAGENS WIRE FORMER TO BUILD OTHER TACKLE AND IF SO PLEASE TELL ME. I DON'T SEE ANY OTHER EXAMPLES, SO ANY INPUT HERE WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ASSISTANCE OR INPUT. BY THE WAY THE LURES ON THIS SITE ARE REALLY IMPRESSIVE AND THE SUPPORT YOU GIVE ONE ANOTHER IS FIRST RATE! spinman
Take a look at the TwisTech wire former. It has a head that does thick wire. I use it for my salmon stuff using .035 wire. I like it becuase I can make long spinners easily. Used the boggs and it was a pain on longer spinners. Never used the Hagens former. The twistech is made by poulsen cascade tackle in Portland Oregon.
ING
IMHO .051" wire is overkill. .035" is more than enough. I'm using TwisTech and happy with it.
