Firechief
I have just started to craft a bait out of basswood. This is my very first attempt of what I assume to be many. After reading and much study and observation of the members at TU, I have decided that it is time to try my hand at this craft. I now realize that for me, it is not the finished product but rather the process therein. It is no small thing to construct a crank from scratch. With so many variables, what if's, damn-its, and other frustrating things in my way, I almost forgot to enjoy smell of the wood, the solitude of being in my man cave and the hope of having something work that I made with my hands. Thanks for all the sound advice here at TU!! Here goes nothing. Hats off to you masters of the craft. Happy Holidays

crankbaits
Great topic! I think the term hand made is used very loose'ly.Where is the line between hand made and hand assembled. You can buy pre-cut bodies, bills and screweyes.Put them together and some will call that hand made.I make all my bodies by hand.No power tools. And thanks to this site I will be making my own screw eyes and bills soon.Do'nt give up on your lure because of one failure it will get easier. You can do it!
