Painter1
I fished with a fellow last week that makes his own plastic baits and he makes a translucent bait with a some purple color in it that he told me he gets by making the glitter/flake bleed some of its colorant out. He told me this only happens at a certain temperature. He was kind enough to give me some to try and if they work I will buy them from him, of course, but I was curious if only that color bleeds or if they all will. If so what temperature does this happen at?
powerworm
they will all bleed if you turn the heat up or keep it at working temp too long
Uma62
I heat and bleed gold and green for shrimp to fish for Red Fish and trout.Makes a real natural color. The reds love them.If you put gold or green in clear plastic and heat it enough. It will bleed and you dont have to use any colors.Just add the other flake you want to go with it.
hawghunterbaits
Hello, You can make all glitter/flake bleed if you know how. I make some baits for a guy every year that wants his baits that way. It has nothing to do with heat.

I make some baits for a guy every year that wants his baits that way. It has nothing to do with heat. So how do you do it? I find that black doesn't bleed for me, but red does. I don't pour enough to really know any more than that, so I'd appreciate any help you can give.

When you heat it enough the flake will bleed out; the flake will then roll up leaving you with a nice smoke bait with gunmetal tube flake. I got mine from Senkosam. Found this out by accident. www.novalures.com
Richard Prager
You can get some really cool effects with that large black flake. Found that out by accident. Purple and red are notorious for bleeding. Wasted many many baits as I found out that those colors don't take kindly to reheats.
Smallie
Take it up above 350F and you should see some bleeding.
