Painter1
Is a mold release spray a good idea for jig heads that will be painted? I have heard that "blacking" the cavity by holding it above a candle works also. Thanks for the advice.
FuzzyGrub
I used the Franklin Arsonel mold release and had no issues with residue on jig heads or issues with powder painting. I haven't used the candle method.
cadman
FuzzyGrub is correct, I use it extensively as well and never had an issue. My suggestion to you is to not use candle smoke as a release agent. From my experience, it has never worked for me, it is very messy and gets all over your hands and clothes, and finally the smoke emits an oil from the candle which goes on the mold and then onto your jig. The mold release is so much easier and it works. Edited December 21, 2011 by cadman

psilvers
I have used both and there is no comparison - another vote for the mold release. It does not affect powder paint.
