Reaper lures
Hi, I am looking for a place where I can buy pure anis scent. I am also wondering if anyone knows how to make thier own scent. What is the base oil? Can you use plain old vegitable oil mineral oil what? Thanks
nova
If you use mineral oil you will harden your baits to the point where they are ruined. For scent go to www.Lurecraft.com
woodsac
Try here as well, these are great scents! http://www.pro-cure.com/
alsworms
Amen to that. I'm a HUGE fan of Pro Cure now!!
BigZ
Lurecrafts garlic scent is GNARLY STRONG! That stuff will make your eyes water. I have been using Siberian brand garlic oil and it is a lot milder. The procure stuff is great, I've been using the bass sauce and the minnow oil with good results, they make quality products. The space where they keep the garlic stuff at Fisherman's Warehouse is always empty so I haven't tried it yet. In saltwater I've used their NASTY product called Butt-Juice for the last couple years and I can't keep the fish off my bait. Just don't spill it on yourself and expect to get any when you get home! Mercury
Well I will say that my shad scent is ONLY pro cure, I will be swinging my garlic scent over when I am out of garlic. I see that they have shrimp/prawn sauce now too. (for thoes that couldnt find it earlier.) For thoes of you that do fish saltwater I found out why you love it. Gulf Shores AL, gave up some great fish and they are MUCH more agressive than freshwater any day!. ( plus they have BIGGER TEETH too.... ) Jeff
BigZ
Just the name is enough to make most of us steer clear of it, but Pro-Cure's "Butt-Juice" is some potent fish hypnotizing crap. I got a 31lb lingcod on a hexbar with a grub on it marinated in that nasty foul smelling goop, and the best part was that he followed it from 90+ feet and struck within our sight (He was released into a vat of peanut oil, coated in dixie fry, followed by Guinness). Spooled me 2X cause I was using a 7ft bass rod w/ Corsair 300 and power-pro 30 on it. The NWFC bastards closed groundfish for more than ? the ______ year now, we have from August to November to catch ling and rock cod in Monterey Bay now (worst months), pretty craPPy if you ask me. To boot we can only fish in depths to 120 feet. The major problem is the halibut fishing, cause we fish jigs in shallow water and the best months are May-August , but you catch so many rock cod and lings the same way there is almost no point in fueling up the old center console and going out. Salmon is on right now, but it's about as fun as reeling in a garbage bag (and tastes about as good if you ask me). Oh yeah, 5/0 or bigger barbless hooks too. Funny that I volunteered to do catch monitoring last year for DFG and this year I told them to go {insert choice activity here}. Sorry for venting, but I guess I'll be traveling to fish this year. Mercury
Thats a big reason I left CA. Too many rules and regs, And now seeing how nice it is in Alabama it looks like its time for a change again. Never before have i seen fish in such clear water, being able to cast to a school of mackerel, The pacific was nowhere near as warm either. Being able to hit bucket mouths and in less than 1/4 mile away get red snappers is incredible. Well you know wha they say, the southern people go north to fish, and the northern people go south to fish...... As long as I dont have to deal with 8" of hard water I will be happy...... BigZ
No complaints on the bass and when the albacore come we won't worry about lesser fishes. BUT everything else around here you might as well have fish and game on your boat. Oh well...we can always troll swombaits for Sea Bass if we get too deperate, or shark fish on small tackle. Fun anyway.

BigZ
If you douse some beef livers or hearts in that nasty crud, I hope you have cable on your spool and a 9/0 gun blued hook. I caught 17 cats in 5 hours last year on that stuff. Think of it as a pink cadillac full of good smellin' crack driving down the river road. NASTY smelling,it out does everything incluoing Zote soap bait. Fresh Mackerel on my other rod caught one fish. I fished at night with a 6 pack of Anchor Steam and a shallow ledge dropping to a creek channel....Oh and a ? can of OFF.
KickerWormz
I have tried Kodiak scent. It comes in liquid or powder form. You can buy it in large and small amounts. I like this stuff a lot.
