curtisb
New to jig making not sure best time to install fiber weed guards. What is best? Using powdwe coat paint that needs oven cure. 1 Paint . cure, then glue in weed guard or. 2 Install weed guard when pouring jigs and oven cure at lower temp. And what temp if this is the way to go? Guess I should mention pouring football jig, with do it mold. Thanks in advance. I am new to making jigs. but seeing lots of info on this site
cadman
Welcome to Tackle Underground and your 1st thread. I've been doing this a long time and if you are using powder paint, then your option #1 definitely, no matter what jig you pour with any weedguard. I have never had any luck with option #2 as I don't believe you can get a good paint job on the jig that way, and definitley not when you are trying to do multi-color powder painting. You will get other replies here as well. Good Luck
Basscandy92040
I agree. Saw some info on here about teflon inserts when power painting....huge time saver vs hoging out hole with 1/8 drill bit after baking and chipping the outside edge of hole..... Welcome aboard. Oldfart9999
It makes it much easier to tie a jig when you glue the guard in after painting and tying. Rodney
