Fulldraw84
I've been searching for a couple hours (reading other posts to get tips) now. And have'nt seen anything on what hardness of caney creek people are using for bass lures? I'll be pouring ring worms and other similar baits. Should I start with regular or get soft and add hardner as I go? Does anyone have quick guidelines for types of plastic to types of lures or styles? Hope its easy enough, I got a shopping cart full and just need one other item.
Fulldraw84
That's what I was leaning toward. kinda hard to pull the trigger though. thanks for the speedy reply.
MonteSS
Start with medium for most baits. Soft is better for heavily salted sticks, or add softener to medium. Great plastic that is very clear, smokes and smells less, and tolerates heat well. ....Bill BTW CCM has their own forums too.
DaBehr
I use Caney Creek Medium for all of my bass and panfish molds...great action with good durability. I have never had anyone that use my baits make a comment that it needed to be more soft!
Fulldraw84
I'm glad to hear that about ccm. I ordered one gallon of there medium plastic. might cost a tad more but haven't heard one negative about it. I did order my colors/ scents from bears since the price is comparable and his scents were the ones I wanted to try first. spendy shipping to MN though, must have been the quart of salt I ordered with it. Frank
If this is your first plastic it will really set the bar pretty high as for ease of use and user friendly. One tip just heat it up and try and leave it alone, dont fuss with it to much. I put mine in and heat it all at once add color and flake and use it. One note on colors they are all pretty close on price BUT they do differ on strength. I have colors from just about everybody and they have there place. Some are weak and some are so strong you need to be carefull if you make small amounts. MonteSS
BTW are you pouring or injecting? ...Bill
Fulldraw84
I have tried plastic that I got off ebay before but it stays white and it stinks to much for me . I'll be pouring, but with hopes of using BT twinjector later to make some ring fry. I actually got the plastic today and tried a 4 oz pour and I can't believe the difference in quality. I'm glad I went with CCM.
