Swim Baits

Recommended Posts

I know many of you shoot swimbaits. I'm wanting to buy a injection type swimbait mold. Something along the style of the basstrix type bait.

Would some of you chime in on what mold you like best, and have good luck with,in pouring and action of bait. The size I want is around 4 to 5 inches.

And do you only pour these baits out of soft, and super soft plastic, for best action?

I sure could use your help,as I really value the opinions here on TU. The best way to learn is to ask people who do it,day in and day out.

Been pouring these alot lately with all the Arig craze going on. Basstackle has a large selection of thoset ypes of baits but most have a hook slot. Lets say the bugeyed shad for instance, I use MF super soft and it gives me the action people really like. The larger one in say six inches I use regular MF, just the weight gives it good action. He has a pretty proven design real comparable to a hollow belly. Like was stated before he has the hollow ones too. I have them from 2" to 6". If they have a top sprue The laminates are great but the side sprue is Ok but not as defined. Hope this helps. Frank

Frank, when I was looking at the Basstackle site, I must have overlooked the 4 inch slick shad, I just saw the 5 and 6. It's good to no they sell a 4 too. In the picture it looks really good, but I just wanted to here from some one who had the molds, to make sure they had good action.

Thanks to every one for your imput, TU is a good place to learn from.

Look at the bugeyed shad it is 4 and there is a new 8 cavity 4 no hook slot that looks more like a slick shad. Mine should be in the mail this week. Slick shad has a doublecut detail that looks more like scales . The bugeyed one has a single cut but the same basic design. Frank
