How Long Is Too Long For A Mold?

Recommended Posts

No names will be mentioned. No need. My question is how long do you wait for a mold offered on a web site. Paid in full at the time of ordering. In your experience will it eventually come?. Phone calls and emails were all made. Going out on Friday. We all know that story. Now the emails are ignored. I took the chance. It was not a custom mold. Do your molds just show up one day when you have given up all hope? It will be coming up on 10 months. I have been around a while. No names are mentioned here. I think TU should think about limiting sponsorship.

any longer than i am told at the time of purchase is too long (except in uncontrollable circumstances).

I have been in the same situation as you are in now, i would bet with the same vendor. I gave up long before you have  if its who i think it is some quick searching will show that they have quite the reputation for doing just this.

I have no doubt it is the same vendor. I was willing to be patient because I thought it would eventually come. I could understand increased sales and limited production for a quality product. If the vendor was not a sponsor here I would not have taken the chance. I don't think it is fair to condone this. Pulling the posts just makes it worse. Like I said, I knew and was willing to wait. Looks like an expensive lesson learned. I do find the new slogan on the banner quite appropriate..

If I order a stock mold or anything else for that matter lets say on a Monday, I would expect it by the middle of the following week. I shouldn't have to chase anybody down looking for my paid for merchandise. I know people waiting over a year now for a couple of molds from two different vendors. NASA builds a rocket ship in less time than that, does better work and is quite a bit more busy. There are no excuses in my book, but that's just me.

Well, I guess the culprit just has no sense of customer service or backbone to either get your order to you (which should include a free mold for waiting sooo long) or refund your money with an appology.

Somebody PM me so I'll know not to do business with them in the future, unless they seriously change their way of doing business.

Why do the vendors -sponsors or not-continue getting a free pass w/ the customer paying the price of inconvienience, frustration and possible loss of $. I chronicled(in precise detail) a bad experience I had w/ a vendor and custom molds that were order years ago(paid in full-in advance) and the thread was locked. Now others have fallen into the trap as the s.o.p.(standard operating proceedure) of this vendor continues w/others.There is no excuse for lack of communication or prompt resposes to inquiries-especially when you've paid in front,in full.

I have ordered and paid for molds/injectors in 2009 and never received them. I had nearly stopped pouring altogether because at that stage I was also buying plastic and colorant from the same vendor. After 18 months of trying to get satisfaction I consider it a lesson learned and now do my homework before doing business with any internet supplier.

Those of you who do not get a reponse to a phone call /e-mail concerning non-delievery of product(paid in advance-in full) should fill an immediate grievance w/ your credit card company after 30 days from date of purchase - unless the vendor promised otherwise in detail on a written receipt.Credit card companies have limitations to file a complaint.( i believe 30-60 days but check to make sure) The credit card company/bank will contact the vendor concerning your grievance filed within their guidelines.Do not let this ignorant & poor business practice continue and cause you and others a monetary loss.

Edited to add: I've never experience a negative transaction dealing w/ David Alexander from Bears baits.

I wish I could say the same thing. I know several guys who have had issues with him. Myself included.

I considered him a friend and accepted his excuses. Respected that he was busy and that my issue would be corrected in due time. I struggle even posting this as others I consider friends will come out in support for him. It has been over a year for me and gradually phone calls and emails have gone unanswered and ignored.

I'm waiting on a new mold as well, but it's also a new design from the carver, so his stocks are most likely not up.

I know just enough about CNC machining to know that it doesn't happen in a blink of an eye

I'm waiting another 10 days to send an e-mail asking WT???

I ordered about $200 worth of supplies from Bears this past Friday. Notification that it was sent out came the next morning. Because of the "holiday", I expect it by Wed or Thurs.

I've never had a problem from Bears. He's always answered my questions within a 24 hour period..same for Kevin at Basstackle.

Del can be a bit (a lot) slow at times.

Basstackle and Bears are reliable enough...very reliable in my opinion.

I want to order the 2.75" tube mold from Dels, but I don't want to wait 6 months or more for it to come in.

Hell, in 8 months, I won't be fishing tubes as often, and I can buy enough tubes from Janns to last years at the same cost.

10 years from now the mold will operate just like the day it came in, but I'm only willing to wait so long for anything I've paid for.

I know what you're saying.

FWIW, I always try to account for everyday life with small business owners, because I never know exactly what's going on under their roofs.

For all I know, it could be spousel cancer, the loss of a child, getting too old to work the way they use to, or terminal disease within the extended family.

There's also a lot of overhead in businesses that I know nothing about.

If a moderator wants to delete this post...no hard feelings on my side
