How Long Is Too Long For A Mold?

Recommended Posts

Very well thought out and written Bob. It bring us back to the the original post. I knew what to expect. I made the order and was willing to wait. If I was given the notification when ordering the waiting time could be up to a year I may have still ordered. It was not custom work. I had some in mind but do to my experience will be going elsewhere. Communication goes a long way. Quote " I did get caught up eventually. I did keep after every job on my list and every service call that needed doing and eventually I got caught up to where I had a reasonable work load again." As a small business owner I completely understand. I would guess that by taking care off your customers the way you did they were well aware of the fact you had not forgotten them. Why advertise for new business when the paid customer is patiently waiting? You can shut down your e-store and not take new orders. If you don't want to lose the buyer put on a real time delivery date with a give or take. Personally I would go that route instead of spending money and time searching down negative comments and trying to make them go away. I don't need to hear they are going out Friday three times. I just need to know I am in line and not forgotten about, Many new people to the site are excited and have no idea what to expect because the posts get shut down and deleted. I am very happy and surprised this one has been allowed to continue.

From that same 2010 sale, I received all of my molds within 1 1/2 months. Longer than I wanted, but I guess that was a blessing. If I didn't have a tracking number, would have started a CC or paypal dispute. I buy mostly used molds, and that can have some "fun" with "too busy" delays. The few new molds I have purchased (outside of that sale) were fromm BT and CC. Both shipped out within one day. Either I got extremly lucky, or they have a better approach of managing stock.

WHATS GOING ON

Dont most of you live in USA. Dont you have the best freedom of speach laws in the world ???

Its not slander if its true.

I think i waited over 8 months for some custom molds off Dell

But he does make some AWSOME molds. Up to you whether or not you want to wait a long time or not

That why my next 4 differnt custom molds went to another member on this forum (feel free to give yourself a plugg buddy :) )

I had them all. Yep 4 different designs in under a month.

Shame on the mods if they edit any more posts on this matter. Which i have seen them do in the past

I would be disgusted to see them put $$$$$ (sponsership) in frount of their members by not allowing others to know what they are getting into

As i said before Dell molds are top quality. Just be dont be surprised if you have to wait a long time for them

Hello guys I think it is safe to say that we all know the vendor! I am surprised to see he IS still in business. I brought one mold from him and some supplies way back and told myself never again And I have not delt with him since!!!!!!! I would have to say I deal with the best in the business now and had never had any problems with any other vendor in this field! Why should you as a tackle manufacture have to call your customers and explain why you have not made there order yet. Never again!

Another thing to bear in mind with smaller businesses, and big ones, too, for that matter, is that one hand doesn't always know what the other is doing.

I've had staff drop the ball, and only found out about it three months later.

I've since changed procedures so that doesn't happen again, but it cost me bigtime.

Most of people who are small business people are really good at what they do, but aren't trained business people. We learn to run our companies well the hard way.

My old boss used to say, "School is expensive", meaning we learn from our mistakes, and pay for them ourselves.

This is not meant to be an apology for poor service.

It's more meant to help you figure out the kind of questions you should be asking of a vendor when you're exploring using them.

Call and talk to someone real, instead of just emailing. And don't be afraid of offending someone by asking hard, detailed questions. If they can't or won't answer them, you don't want to use them.

Spot on advice there Mark.I run a small company too and my philosophy is:

Be accurate stating your delivery schedule w/ your customers and tell them the truth- 99.9 % of them respect this and will be return accounts for sure. Some custom orders can take up to 2 weeks to get out w/ the spring rush If you don't take care of your customers ,someone else will for sure. Two,well known CNC shops have lost 15K + in business from me due to their extremely poor communication skills and promised delivery schedule.
