ING
Why Some Topics Are Deleted? For example: And The Bucktails Go Here... Edited January 11, 2012 by ING
smalljaw
Why Some Topics Are Deleted? Just read the terms and look at the topics that are deleted. Some of them need to be in the classifieds either in the "want to buy" or "for sale" topics, others go against how topics are supposed to done, for example, if you are posting pics just to show off work you did, well then it needs to go into the gallery unless you are asking a question about something theat needs the picture to be fully understood and that is only one example. I'm sure someone will give you a better description than I have.
FuzzyGrub
I didn't get any warning PM from admins, but suspect smalljaw is correct.

Yes that topic had only picture but reply already has question that could cause discussion about reasonability of double bladed spinners. Also was deleted topic: First Hair Jig- Critiques Needed with 8 replies ( it means that topic is popular) and by the way it is consisting a question: "Critiques Needed". So it is not clear - what's going on.
smalljaw
Maybe instead of posting pics we could just post a link to the gallery, that would make the post ok. I can see were the lines get blured like having a picture of a modified mold to explain the process is something really needed but an honest critique of a jig or other lure could probably fair better with a gallery link rather than a direct picture. redg8r
The 1st topic in question, the entire post contained this and a photo: "Ok, after tieing a few bucktails, time to make some spinners. Here is my 1st batch" Exhibition topics are not permitted in the luremaking forums. This is a perfect candidate for our gallery. It's what we made the gallery for. I understand that many other forums allow exhibition and bragging topics (we do too), but we have a dedicated section for this outside the technical discussion forums. The gallery is insanely popular, it will be seen and you will usually get feedback (comments) on the photo/s. The other topic is indeed a grey area, we try our best, there was one valid sentence included with the photo where you asked whether to lengthen or shorten the bucktail. Even though that could easily be discussed in the gallery, I'll revisit the topic and look a restoring it. As far as cross posting (posting a topic to increase exposure to another) whether it be cross posting a gallery upload, classified ad, etc; will usually get deleted. Moving this from "wire baits forum" to the "docks"
ING
I'm not sure that tearing out images and discussion about them is the best idea. Photos are not only for bragging. Almost every photo cause questions and discussion what that board is for. I think that separation is artifitial. If I'll see picture in the gallery, how I can ask about details? redg8r
Therese many preferable reasons we have it setup this way. Have a look around the net for other luremaking forums, you'll see little discussion and alot of exhibition. We welcome your photos and want to see them, just not in the forums. Nothing in the way our forums are structured has changed in years, and the concise, in-depth, on topic discussions you enjoy here is a direct result of the forums and gallery being separated. If I'll see picture in the gallery, how I can ask about details? Once you visit the gallery, it will make sense, commenting and discussion is permitted in the gallery.
