t-billy
Not sure why there seems to be such little difference in your price comparisons but I'm in Pa. so a 5 gallon pale of Pourasol is $120.00 deievered and Caney Creek is $176.00 That's $24.00 per gallon vs. $35.20 per gallon respectively which comes to a difference of $56.25 per 5 gallons. That's a considerable difference . My choice is obvious w/ the change going towards precision CNC injection molds. Pourasol is 120.70 to my door for 5 gal. CC is 176.96 for 5 gal. $11.25 per gallon difference. I think you missed the per gallon part of my previous post.
carolinamike
t-billy, if you've got to add more flourescent coloring to already heated plastic, there's a trick that works everytime. Instead of adding the coloring to the heated plastic, just add it to a little bit of raw plastisol and then add it to the heated plastic. It'll work everytime. On your Chemionics plastisol, do you still have it? Here while back plasticizer (one of the components used to make plastisol) was on a shortage and some companies tried some plasticizers that didn't work well. Plastic not setting up or baits being real oily and since Chemionics is only 40 minutes from your house I can PM you a representative's name. Give them a call and ask them about it. Even if you bought it through another distributor odds are the home company will make it good. Most companies that have been around a long time don't want bad products out there with their name on it. And mistakes happen sometimes, try giving them a chance to correct their mistake and post on how it comes out. Also I'm coming up with the same figure as smallmouthaholic. If I multiply your 11.25 by 5 (gallons) I'm also coming up with $56.25 and I'm figuring per gallon.
t-billy
Hi mike. Thanks for the tip on the flourescent coloring. I only have about a gallon of the chemionics plastisol left. I added some mf hardner to it and it's fine. I'm gonna give a gallon of the pourasol a try. If I'm not happy with it I'll pm you for the Chemionics reps contact info. You and smallmouthaholic are both correct. I'm saving $56.25 per 5 gallon purchase. Wich works out to $11.25 PER GALLON savings. I'm just a hobby baitmaker. I make baits for myself and a handfull of buddies. 5 gal lasts me quite a while. Edited January 30, 2012 by t-billy
FuzzyGrub
He is not a reseller he makes it for himself. I have had excellent service from CC on molds, but have not tried or even asked for sample plastisol. I did think their packaging idea was cool and inovative, and they seem dedicated to this niche market. Pricing is on the highend. I am surprised to hear they mix their own. I was assuming they were repackaging or having it mixed slightly different from the mfg. To consistantly mix batches, is not a small matter. Bold move on their part. If it is a more "idiot proof" plastisol, it could have its place. I'll probably try a sample if/when I order another mold. For now, its the devils I know. Bass-Boys
CC told me that they were to small of a company to be giving out samples. and that was fine with me,, the economy is not good. and small companies need all the help they can get to get the bills pd. but that did make it so I did not try the plastic so I just stuck with what I was using.
