Fish_N_Fool
I am having some trouble with the casting flash that runs between the molds. Any one have a good way to get rid of it or not get it to start with? trimming my baits all by hand is a real pain.
Big Splash
The only way is to eliminate the crack between the two halves of the mold. You can try to sand down any high spots that keep the mold from closing together nicely. You can identify them by spreading vaseline or other material on one side of the mold and then closing it. The high spots will transfer and can be marked for removal.
Travis
I found that if I mixed the plaster or water putty with a little more water that the molds were more true to form afterwords. I don't know how most do their molds I am new at the game myself. I always pour a base let it set for a couple of minutes and then put my masters pressed into the base. I let it cure and then cast the top after a very thin coat of vaseline and foil. I don't have any high spots or areas that don't meet well unless I place vaseline on too thick. I haven't had to trim most baits then I have kept it rather simple like stickbaits and worms.
