archeryrob
Has any one else been powder painting in line lure bodies, like the do-it mold bodies. I put some on paper clip, heated and dipped them. Then hang in the oven to cure. A couple fall off when the paper clip heats up and get ruined, a couple get clogged holes or just about stuck on the paper clips. This is no D@mn fun at all!!! I tried using the pre-twisted .03 wire with one loop twisted on it. Slide the body on it heat and dip in the powder. The body wants to ride up on the shaft, get stuck. again more painful work and no fun. I don't have a sprayer and am looking for some way to not have to burm the holes open and do this easier. Any ideas at all?
smalljaw
Try the paint brush method, simply heat the lure body and dip the brush into the powder and then tap the brush so that the paint comes off and goes onto the lure body. Check TJ's tackle out, there was a video there showing how to do it, they also see a fantastic fluid bed at a great price that works really well, I have mine for 4 years and I love it! cz75b
Try running the thickest wire you can thru it, heat and powder paint then twist the wire to break that top and bottom where it enters the hole before it cures so you can remove it easier, bend a hook at the top so you can hang in your oven for that final cure. When done, snip the wire at the bottom then pull thru from the top, wires get shorter so just use for the smaller sized bodies until it is used up. easier too if the coating is not heavy and runny.....if for some reason it still sticks, take your wire cutters and carefully score the cured paint at the wire/hole and go from there. It sucks to go thru all the work and have a hole that is too small, which is the reason for the largest diameter wire at the start. Results are worth it though, make spinners for pennies and don't fear casting them into the cover. Good luck.
