Saltwater Jig Hooks

Recommended Posts

Not 100% sure on this, but I think the tinned hooks are the only ones for saltwater use.

I have a feeling you are right. I have used tinned hooks before for saltwater jigs, however a customer wants a jig I can't get in a tinned hook, unless I get them tinned. Thanks.

Cadman,

Those hooks will be fine for saltwater IF the customer washes off the jig and let's it dry after using. Even the tinned hooks will eventually rust in the salt. I rinse off ALL my tackle after using in the salt - jigs included.

Heck, I have had jigs that I have used in freshwater rust - and the hooks were good hooks (Gamakatsu, Owner, etc.)

I've been pouring most of my jig heads using the Mustad black nickel hooks and have found that they are as good as the Owner black nickel for corrosion resistance which are recommended for SW use.

Most of my usage is in the saltwater.

They still need to be rinsed after usage.

I'm curious if the EC Black Pearl finish is as good as the Mustad black nickel finish :?
