I have used tinned hooks before for saltwater jigs, however a customer wants a jig I can't get in a tinned hook, unless I get them tinned. Thanks. psilvers Posted February 11, 2012 Report Share Posted February 11, 2012 Cadman, Those hooks will be fine for saltwater IF the customer washes off the jig and let's it dry after using. Even the tinned hooks will eventually rust in the salt. I rinse off ALL my tackle after using in the salt - jigs included. sdsaw Posted February 12, 2012 Report Share Posted February 12, 2012 I've been pouring most of my jig heads using the Mustad black nickel hooks and have found that they are as good as the Owner black nickel for corrosion resistance which are recommended for SW use. Most of my usage is in the saltwater. They still need to be rinsed after usage.
