Variety Of Molds

Recommended Posts

This question is for everybody, but I know Jim @ Ghostbaits does A LOT of hand-pouring...

If I decided to stick with hand-pouring for a little while, is there a variety of two-sided closed molds for hand-pouring? I see a lot of pictures from Jim that show a nice variety of hand-poured baits (craws, creatures, etc.). Who makes the molds?

Thanks!!!

Don't overlook the open pour silicone molds. They're a durable cost effective alternative to aluminum. The ones I've purchased from Lurecraft are of exellent quality. I've also made quite a few of my own, both open pour and 2pc injection. Rtv is easy to work with and picks up the smallest details perfectly.

I am finally investing in a Twinjector now I have a new question to ask... You can basically scrap the original idea for this post... I have a new situation that I need addressed... I have been using BT's 5" Hand-poured (4) cavity stick molds... With the switch to injection, I am looking for injection stick molds... My question(s) are: I see that BT, Bear's and possibly Del's make a 5" Injection stick mold (not 100% sure about Del's)... Bear's and Del's also make a 5.25" stick mold... I am looking for molds with the most amount of cavities I can get per mold... Since I have been using 5" stick molds up until now, I would imagine that switching to a 5.25" stick would throw a major "wrench in my gears" especially since I have quite a bit of built up inventory... I do see that BT makes a (10) cavity 4" stick, but so far it doesn't look like they offer it in a 5"... I see on Del's site that he carrys (10) and (20) cavity stick molds, but I think he only carries them in the 5.25" stick... Do the molds I am looking for exist?!? Any and all help is deeply appreciated!!! :D

Hey Frank, I sent out an email earlier to Basstackle and received a reply... Here it is below:

Hi Brent,

We can quote and make a 10 cavity for you but more than likely you will have denting issues.

So much air gets pulled for the sprue on stick molds, higher cavities are really hard to shoot without denting...

What do think?!? Does this seem right?!? How is it possible that Del's would sell a (20) cavity 5.25" stick mold then?!?

Thanks!!!

Just get multiple 5 cavity molds. A 10 cavity would not save you that much money anyway. You would also need a pretty large injector. My 4oz injector just barely fills a Bears 5 cavity 5" stick mold. I recently switched to a 5 oz Bears injector and dont run dry now.

5" Bears is fatter like a real Senko but 3/8" short. 5.25 Bears is right length but skinnier that a real Senco.

The money is not always the issue, time is worth more than that. Do the math on how many more time you have to open a mold if you can get double the baits. And He is getting a Twinjector that has a 12 oz compacity so that is not and issue. The sprues left over will be half as much too and they can add up in a hurry. But Kevin has informed him that there might be a problem anyways, so out with that idea. Frank
