Kennyfore
I am searching for some foil to replicate a bait i am having success with. It appears to have a holographic foil or holographic paint on the sides. I cant seem to locate any. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks. OThessalonikios
First post here... I just started last month and have had some success using Jones Tones foil paper. I needed some flash for a few topwater yellow perch I was painting so this foild did the trick. I didn't want too much flash so the hologram foils were nice as they are broken apart and give a "scaled" look. I also used the straight silver to foil some white perch cranks. You can get the sheets through their website, jonestones.com

crankpaint
I posted some halo foil i found at the dollar store in the tissue paper area that works pretty well on flatter sided crank baits try searching hard baits and foil comes in a few diff colors and styles the gold can be used as silver just by flipping it over
OThessalonikios
Thank you. It was kind of difficult to work with. The directions on the Jones Tones website shows how. I also found a youtube video of someone putting them on jewelry which helped me understand. It is tough to get 100% coverage so I had to re-apply in some areas. markinorf
The Jonetones is in reality ANY heat transfer foil used on t-shirts and fancy laser printed applications. Papilon is another source. All of these foils can be applied with spray adhesives. Rub em on and snatch em off.

Do you think a heat gun set "not too hot" would help? www.novalures.com
OThessalonikios
Do you think a heat gun set "not too hot" would help? www.novalures.com I don't know to be honest. I put them in front of Halogen Lamps to get nice and hot. I just did a few more cranks this weekend with the jonestones and it is tough stuff. I think if I can find a spray adhesive, it will be best. I tried some elmers but I think the alcohol (or some other chemical) caused issues with the crankbait. It actually started to melt/soften the plastic of the bait. Using the jonestones glue works but you need to apply it on with a brush or what not and it's difficult to get a uniform cover.
crankpaint
try loc tite spray adhesive that works for me
Hughesy
I use Mona Lisa Gold Leaf adhesive. It comes in a bottle and shoots like water thru an airbrush. It lays down very smooth. You can get it online or at Hobby Lobby. Shoot it, let it dry, Then apply the foil. When you pull the foil back off, do it very fast. I mean rip it off. If you pull it off slow, it sometimes takes the glue with it.The glue goes on white and is clear when it drys. I always put down a silver base coat first on the lure. It helps hide any small missed areas.
OThessalonikios
Really good ideas guys. I didn't even think about spraying a basecoat similar to the foil. That would definitely help take the eye off any missed spots. I will have to try the loctite spray too. It's funny I stress over missed spots... I am going to be working these baits, 60miles an hour over 20-30feet of water. I don't think the fish will care that much.

crankpaint
the fish dont care as much as the fisherman do about what it looks like as long as it looks good to eat...
nedyarb
I have been experimenting with the jones tones silver tape. Last night I tried gluing regular foil over the bait and then sealed it on with etex. Today I applied the JT foil and pulled it off. There was a couple small spots that did not stick, but with the foil undercoat it is barely noticable! Rob
