cadman
Hey Guys I just bought some of the molds mentioned above in 1/4 - 3/8.....1/2 - 3/4......... and 1 -1-1/2 oz varieties. I would like to use a black nickle hook in any and all of these molds if possible for the bass guys. Can someone tell me which ones would work without mold modifications? I'm mostly lookng for the heavier hook in the 90 degree style. Similar to the EC 635 but in a Mustad, Owner, or Gamakatsu. Thanks in advance Edited March 17, 2012 by cadman
Basseducer
The Gamakatsu 604s work and they come in some really big sizes. I can get a 7/0 into the 1 oz. cavity. Then any of the Mustad 91715s in duratin will work.

sdsaw
Cadman, This jighead is what attracted me into pouring my own heads. BN hooks are the way to go When I wanted to switch to BN hooks I settled on the Owner 5319 for the 1/2 & 3/4oz 3/0 & 5/0 Pricey, but very high quality. Then I discovered the Mustad 32786BLN hooks and never looked back. The only drawback is that you will have to make a slight mod to the hook eye area. 1/2-1 1/2oz heads As of now, I have a 1/4 & 3/8oz. style 9 mold on order. Thinking I'm going to use the Mustad 32833BLN (salmon/steelhead) hook but might have to mod the hook eye area to be able to. I'll let you know when I get the mold Some of the EC black platinum hooks are worth considering if you know the right style to get Scott

Ogajiga
I don't have the Shad 9, but checking my Do-it Arrow 3/8 & 1/2 rated for EC 635 1/0 & 2/0 respectively, an Owner 5313 3/0 fits both sizes perfectly. 5313 2/0 eyes are too small to fit either size eye slot center posts. 32833 2/0 also no fit has a shorter eye leg than 5313 2/0 but otherwise is bout the same size. Neither Gami 604 3/0 or 4/0 will fit the Arrows. I don't have hooks sizes not mentioned.

andy1976
I may be to late but eagle claw has a 60º flipping hook 5/0 at shortys. 5,6,8/0 works great in that mold. I just got a bunch and am thankful I learned about eagle claws new hooks here. I think they were a little over fifty dollars. For a 1000 mustads are more than double. andy1976
Sorry my post edit didn't come out right. Eagle claw only makes the hook up to 5/0 but you can get the 32786npbln by mustad up to 8/0.

BBK
I have that mold also (the smaller one) and I bought the 91715DT to start. The 2/0 is too small for any bass baits, but they will work on 4" grubs for walleye/smallies. I am going to switch to the round bend, x long shank 'stads for bass lures. More specifically 32831bln in 4/0. I may have to mod the mold when these hooks come, but either way I think round bend is the way to go for bass swimbaits. I'll post an update when I get the hooks.
