joshscustomcrankbaits
Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to see if you can figure this out. I have looked around the web to see if I could find a clear coat that would give the holographic affect that this guy is using. I wouldn't personally use it on every lure I paint but can see uses where this could be a nice effect to add to a lure. I realize that it was sprayed through a comb or stencil to get the lines and such but my biggest question is what paint is he using. It isn't duplicolor prism effect because I have it and it doesn't work, not even a little. They should call it clear with holographic glitter in it because that is what it is. I haven't tried Alclad II holomatic spectral chrome which may be what it is so I can't say either way on it. I also don't think it is spazstix holographic paint either because it looks to be glitter or holographic powder based that is added to a lacquer to spray. If anyone knows please fill me in. I really don't want to spend $22 dollars for 1 ounce of Alclad II and it not be the same effect. I really hope to find it in a lacquer airbrush paint that is ready to spray. Thanks a million guys and I have learned alot by using this website. Thanks again. Richard Prager
Could the tape be inside the blank like this one?
gekhang
i think that's how the blank came. jim @ predatorbassbaits just got some 1.5 in holo transparent and non transparent only in the square bills though.
dakotalakestackle
They put holographic paper inside of the bait before bonding the 2 halves together. I have been looking into getting some similar, but I see Jim has beat me to it. I did get the Sammy's with the holographic insert but you need to apply clear coat to see it come through. mark poulson
Josh, I'm sure the guys here are right about it being on the inside of the clear bait before it's painted. The closest I've come is using Sally Hansen "In The Spotlight" nail polish, which is a clear with 1/8" mylar pieces suspended. If I brush it on in one direction, I get the pieces kind of aligned. But it's nowhere near as clean and neat as the bait you just posted. It works great on silver willow leaf blades to increase the flash dramatically....just don't tell anyone! joshscustomcrankbaits
Thanks for all the replies. I actually emailed the guy who sales it and he said it came from the factory that way already painted. However I just ordered some kustom shop prism flakes that are 1/500th of an inch that can be added to a clear and will give this effect and they can be sprayed. They just need to be concentrated to get the effect. Only one problem 1/2 ounce is 20 bucks shipped to the door. Thanks guys and we will see how it goes. I love the advice and such you get on here. Thanks guys.
