Need help finding sponsors

Recommended Posts

If anyone here has any good ideas on ways to find sponsorships let me know, I am trying to work up a one time deal to fish the upcoming BASS northern open tournament being held on my hometown lake here in VA, which is my testing waters for my baits. Anyone who has luck in the past picking up sponsors you guys can help me out a bunch.

You could post a link on your website asking for resumes for sponsorship. Be prepared to receive a HUGE load of emails. At that point, it's up to you to decide who would seriously help promote your product, or who's yanking your chain for free baits or discounts. In my opinion, I would start with regular customers or friends of those customers. They are usually pretty loyal. My past experiences with sponsorship have not been good ones.

Hey Chris, My major sponsor ia a self storage company. They offer storage not only for personal belongings, but boats and campers as well. You might check around and make some arrangement that if they have a promotion on site to drum up business, you could attend and have your boat on display and answer any questions their customers may have. I have also worked with a tackle shop and offered to take out their best customers on occation or they could sponsor a contest with the winning prize being a trip out with you. If you are able to pick up a little here and there, it adds up. I'm talking to a bottled water company right now and hope good things come from it. Think outside the box, a sponsor does not have to be a boat company or tackle company. Fisherman use everyday products and many companies who are not directly related to fishing could turn out to be your best bet. Good Luck, Joe

try some car dealer ships or auto repair places.

When you talk to them dress nicely(emails and phone calls dont work)

its just like a job interview.

Also you might want to try boat dealerships marinas auto repair place's etc.

it helps if you have a friend or 2 that works at a place as well.

we got hooked up that way. It does fell kinda wierd having someone pay your entry fee, I still havent gotten used to it.

Also what ever you do in public Dont go bad mouthing anyone even on an local internet board, sponsors dont like that.

Its also very hard to get a sponsor to pay for entry's most sponsors dont mind giving out some product at a discount or even free but getting cash or a check is extreamly difficult.

Good luck to you.
