ROWINGADUBAY
I am thinkin of trying one of these molds for making 1/4oz size spoons used for fishing yellow perch. I am thinking of using tin for pouring these but I am not sure wich spoon mold to get if I was just vertical jigging I would get the flutter jig and for casting the casting spoon but the retrieve that gets the most bites is a combo of the two.We cast it out let it drop, pause on the bootom, give it pop and let it drop, pause. most bites occur right after the spoons hit the bottom or right after the pause when you start moving it off the bottom I am leaning toward the flutter spoon because I think it looks "modern" and because I think it would make a great ice fishing bait. I guess my question is how do these spoons swim on a straight retrieve? How do they do on the drop?
pirkfan
I've caught a lot of fish on the Do-It casting spoon over the years in all sizes. 1/4 oz is particularly effective for Kokanee. It has a nice slow rotation action on the steady retrieve and also works well for vertical jigging. The flutter jig is much more specific to vertical jigging and has very little action on a straight retrieve, but a great...well....flutter on the vertical drop.
