Nathan
Hey Guys, I was contacted by a guy who fishes Clear Lake in Ca.. He wants me to build him some baits that resemble a bait fish they call a "Hitch".I did a web search and struck out on this fish.It must be a slang name.....does anyone know the proper name,or have a picture,or know what color they are?...Anything would help!!!!...Thanks..Nathan
RiverMan
Nope, haven't heard of it Nathan. I would suggest writing him and asking for a "common" or "scientific" name. Probably a type of shiner or sucker if he's calling it a "baitfish". I would be interested in hearing what you find out. Jed
Celticav
LOL, you too huh? The "Lavinia exilicauda" or hitch is a hard one to locate. I ended up going by the color pattern on swimbaits: http://www.iovino.com/hitch.html http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpageSWM316-MFSWB.html http://www.insidesportfishing.com/Market/Articles/5615.asp?CLID=1 http://www.umaxco.com/bigbaits.htm Hope this helps, what I finally ended up with looked like a baby-bass color scheme with a little more blue in it than normal. Volp1
I think its scientific name is Lavina exilicanda. Hope this helps. Volp1
