Dinner Bell Lures
I have been pouring my own jigs for a few years now, and just started an online bussines. So far things have been going pretty well. I am looking to add a swim jig, but I don't want the same old same old. Looking for something a little different, been searching the interweb for days and have yet to come across anything. I would like to stay away from spending the $300 to have one made ( bearly breaking even so far) Thanks for any help! P.S. The jigs I pour are all lead free! mkvnmtr
Your post is not clear but I guess you are looking for a mold. You might try looking into something made in Europe or South America. With shipping and exchange rates most of what I have seen you can get around a hundred dollars American. Be aware that I have never seen a foreign mold that looked like it would give the speed of production that a Do-It or Collins mold will give you. Dinner Bell Lures
I am looking for a mold, a swim jig mold that is a little different from what everyone already makes. The Collins mold website is a little funky, not sure what is going on there, are they still in bussines?
smalljaw
I use the Snootie jig from Do-it as my swim jig. It truly is one of the most universal jigs ever made. I use it for flipping jigs, bladed jig (chatter style bait), swim jig, and I even use the head to fish hollow bodied swim baits as well as solid bodied swim baits. The only negative is it uses a ball style collar instead of a barb but a drop of worm glue works great and everyone who has fished it really likes it, the design comes through grass and cover great and it uses a really good hook in the mustad 32768 which is a 60 degree flipping hook. On my 3/8oz swim jig I like using a rage tail craw as the trailer and for that specific bait I use the Gamakatsu 2014 EWG 60 degree hook in a 4/0 size and it works great without modifications, take a look you may find it to be what you are looking for. Dinner Bell Lures
All the molds I have now are all do-it, and it would def work. But like I said I was looking to do something a little different then what everyone else is pouring. Secret lures swim jig has a nice point to it, and some ridges. Thanks for the reply!! cadman
I don't want to be rude, however since you have all the std molds and you want something different, you are going to have to have one custom made. It's just that plain and simple. Nothing custom made is going to be cheap. If you are looking to spend $100 -$200 dollars than you better modify what you have, because you won't find anything for that price. I am a designer and have custom designed aluminum molds that I have sent to machine shops, and it is very expensive. Design time unless you design it yourself and supply a cad file is about $30/hour. Machinist to cut the miold from a cad file is about the same. So find a mold from Collins and make some small chages, as that is still the cheapest route to go. Or you can make a mold out of Durhams water putty or bondo, this way you can make what you want.
