DaBehr
How do you rig a hand poured bait? Flat side down (detailed side up) Flat side up (detailed side down) Or both??? I was fishing with a guy that has poured baits for a long time and he does it both ways. Flat side down when he wants an irregular fall ....detailed side down when he thinks the fish are looking up at the bait...and wants the bait to fall in a more controlled manner due to the round surface. I have to admit...I have always rigged them flat side down....but I'm looking at a Beaver Style bait....and it may work just as well...maybe better....flat side up so the can see the detail side when it hits the water. Jig Man
How you rig jig or T depends on which side will be down. I normall rig flat sided baits with flat down in shallow water. If I am slowly sinking then the other way around in deeper water.
Bass-Boys
I would think that if you are not using a weighted hook or jig head,, saying that you rig w/ a lite wire hook and a sliding bullet weight the bait mite land either side up on each cast it mite land different?? it may turn in the water as it sinks ?? Kajan
I rig mine like I designed them. Some are flat on top, some on bottom, just depends on the lure.
JSC
On most all with a flat side I rig it with the hook thru the flat side .. on a lot of baits it means a better hook up as you have a smooth level surface. Just .02 cents worth Edited May 15, 2012 by JSC
