FishBones
Hi all, I have a couple of questions. First off, how do I store swimbaits? Distributors and tackleshops wan immediate shipping, meaning I have to have the stock on hand, meaning I have to pour then store. With worms (which I don't do) or twin tails (which I do do) the issue isn't so big, but with swimbaits (90% of my business) the tails etc are very important and cannot be bent too much in storage or they won't function properly. How do you do it? Second, I currently use MF's 464 mix. Great company, great product.....but. The 464 mix is 50/50 hard and soft plastic. The harder plastics (from MF, never used anyone elses) tends to scorch very very easily, in fact I have a hard time getting a clear pour at all, there always seems to be a bit of yellowing. Can anyone recommend either a method or a plastic that doesn't yellow so much? Third, I want to buy some of the Bears Baits pouring pots (the whole deal, stirrers etc. installed). I've called and left several messages but never received a reply. Can anyone tell me how big the pot is? And can anyone tell me anything about the company? I don't have much money to throw around, want to make sure it's a good investment if I do it. Thanks.
SHK
Bear can be a "bear" to get a hold of at times because he spends a great deal of time at the CNC mill making molds for all of us. the presto pots he builds will hold a gallon at a time. the stirring units attached work incredibly well at keeping glitter and salt suspended. Bear is probably one of the most honest of the mold suppliers we have working for us, and there has never been a problem with any of my orders with him. as far as the yellowing plastic, keep an eye on temperature and how long you have it heated for. you will want the temp as low as your process will tolerate and you want to use your plastic as fast as you can. FishBones
Thanks SHK, I really needed the info on Bears, sounds silly but that was the only thing I wanted to know lol. How big is the dang pot! Yes, I agree on the plastisol, temp is important but the MF hard is sort of famous for yellowing.
