Bears New Injector

Recommended Posts

figured i would start a new post before things went south. here is a new post from today from Bear regarding his new 2 colour injector

"I know you thought you were going to see pics and videos of it but NOT YET cheesy.gifgrin.gif .............................

You all know that this is going to work in conjunction with the presto pots. As of right now we were shooting at getting them on the market without the presto pots for around $500.00. This is the complete unit minus the presto pots. Kajan has built some small enclosures to fit around the presto pots for cheap easy ventilation. These will be sold as an addon if wanted. That puts the complete system with 2 complete presto pots retail for $1000.00 We are still working out the price for the enclosures.

This post is to try and cut back on the phone calls we have been receiving on them asking how much and when. Unlike the bench Top Injector,These units are simple to use and will work with one mold or 50 or more molds . The learning curve will be next to nothing if you have used an injector before. This will work with single or 2 color injection. End of this week or middle of next week they should be ready to roll out. We are trying to get 100 built before release as we do not want to be held up on delivery of these units. "

I am really trying to picture in my brain how this whole system is going to look and exactly how it's going to work... Are the pots going to actually be part of the system or do you just need them to melt the plastic?!? So if I already have two presto pots, I should only need the new "injector unit"?!? I CAN'T WAIT!!! :)

So nice of you to review and add your thoughts on a product you have never even seen. Keep them coming, I'm sure everyone appreciates it.

Why does it happen so often, when somebody posts their observations, thoughts, criticisms, etc. their threads more than too often get shit on?

I dont have one of these either but took alot of critism when I posted a video of the Twinjector, from people who did not have one either. Two big concerns I see from the video is for cleaning it is a bit more of a challenge. I guess to clean out the injectors they need to be taken apart. No one really asked how to clean out the pluming at the valve. Do you have to pull down the injectors to expell the extra plastic? Is the unit made of thin wall tubing? If you drop it will they dent? How about the small tubes at the bottom tough enough to take a fall and not bend? Are they really needed because I have used my Twinjector alot and the tip is well rounded from use and it is much thicker the this one. And that is from someone who actually uses these things ALOT. The idea is great having heated injectors, I posted a way of using the Twinjector and dont clean them out either. I just clean out the block. After using two gallons of plastic I have two cups of remelts, one of each color. That is not much for that amount of plastic. One thing that will be learned from this is you need alot of molds to save time or you will be just waiting for mold to cool. I just used 18 molds one order and it was not enough. After 1 gallon they were so hot I had to cool then just to demold in a timely manner. Once they are that hot they flash even with the slightest pressure. Some molds are far better than others in this regard.

So you see my observation is from someone that actually does it so I can have an opinion on this learning board. Frank

I am not here for a pissing contest, Just to comment on a couple of questions. 1st off Bob and Frank thanks for the observations and concerns. Yes the Injectors are thin walled. Will they bend if dropped? I am sure Sure they will . If you drop a Pyrex cup it will more than likely break. But parts are readily available for them and not real expensive. Cleaning the Injectors well I have ran over 5 gallons of plastic through them and I have not took them apart for cleaning yet. We changed the O-Rings on the pistons and we are getting very little Bypass of them. I have took them down for inspection but that is it. To change colors you have to clean your pot and paddles but you do not have to clean anything else as they will clean them self. There is no plug in the block. The only exception I would maybe make is if going to a white. But we all know everything shows up in white. Are these units perfect? No they are not but compared to the other methods we have been using I will say that once you use this you will not want to use blending blocks or any other 2 color process. Frank you mentioned molds having to cool down this will always be an issue but with this system while your molds are cooling your plastic is being stirred and less likely to burn while waiting. This method is clean, you do not have to submerge your injector into your plastic. Once you are up and running you do not have to worry about air getting into your injectors unless you empty your pots. This system does not fix all of the issues with making baits but it does make shooting baits either single color or 2 color laminates as easy as I think can be accomplished. This system address a lot of the issues we had previously when using an injector. You do not have to stop and clean injectors , There is no adapters or blocks to fool with. You do not need a griddle to keep anything hot, We addressed alot of the things people were having to do with their current process and made them better. This is as far as I am concerned the easiest method you can use today for doing what we do. Does it fix all the issues ? NO but it does fix the issues of the injecting part of it. As far as a detent pin to hold the block up well I see your point but I have never had my injector fall once put in the upright position. If that is something that concerns you you could leave it in the laying down posistion when not being used .

Thanks for your input and if I can answer any questions abut it by all means post them up and I will answer to the best of my ability.

Free speech is all good but why ask questions or make suggested modifications to the open forum when this thing isn't even delivered to the end user yet, how about shooting Bear a PM or openly request his answers to your questions it's well known people will never come down from their soap box support for the guys they deal with but premature is an understatement for sure and pre "mature" being the key word here.

Edited to read: Bear posted while I was typing but my statement stands.

Yep, left em no choice but to go on the defensive. Those types of questions are for the manufacturer not people who take a one dimensional photo/video and take hacks at it, but do look forward to your modifications to improve upon someone else's product after all it's the TU way!

Looks like a neat product for the guys making baits as a 2nd income, or guys with a lot of molds. If I was that big, I would be looking at purchasing one of these units. However, I am just small potatos and have maybe a dozen injection molds, so I am not ready for something this extravagant.

Bear has a great idea here, I am sure he will sell a bunch of sets.

I asked the same thing when the Bears guy went after me when I posted the Twinjector video. I had the first one so I doubt anyone had one yet. I also introduced the locking pin that was easy to see that it was simple and easy to use and still people insisted the tips dont fall off if no pin is there. The maker of that product made it a point to make all of his that way from then on. He did not fight the fact that yes it cost more to do it that way and did not change the price for this addition.

Bear openly answered the questions and concerns I had and I respect the answers he gave. I am one of the guys that Goes through ALOT of plastic and can see a need for this product. I might even buy one you never know. Being in business and know a first inpression is one you never get back,I have a hard time showing customers my shop with kitchen appliances as a means of making a product including a griddle and I use that all the time. And I will be the first one to admit I have the Jacobs press out for them to see just for the LOOK aspect of it. Now if the two pots were made for plastic and were custom in nature I would buy one in a heart beat. But that is just me. Frank

Bob plain and simple your a Righteous son of a $$$$$, If your all that step it up and sell to the masses, your nothing but a hack! And I'm far from a Bear's fan but your weak assessment of a video speaks volumes to your character.

So Frank you clearly state your alliance to someone other than Bear but why degrade a system you have no experience with, on the face value of a video why not invest in this unit and access it the same way you advocated Jacob's system? You two are lame no matter how you dice it, if your as bad as you say you are then produce something that can be used by the masses.
