Microbubble Recipe

Recommended Posts

I plan to make some baits that need to stand up vertically and so I bought some microbubble additive. Any suggestions on ratio to plastic?

I also noticed that it significantly lightened the color. I need to make some dark colors so any tips for that are appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I use micro bubbles in just about all my Trick Worms.I make the worms stand up on end.Tail up with a 1/0 hook in them. You have to add more colorant to them to get back the color you were looking for.(Like as if using salt). The biggest thing about bubbles is saftey.DO NOT INHALE THEM AT ALL....They are not good for you.I have a video of a trick worm with bubbles.I will try and post it so you can see the action.I think it is awsome.

I have used them, still have some. In order to make them float a 4" frog with a frog hook, I had to mix 1:1. You read that right, 1:1.

You can go 1:4 or so if you just want to float tails. The micro spheres will stiffen the baits, and will make them white (unless you add a ton of color, and, of course, the baits will NOT be translucent), and you definitely need to have a good mask on when working with them.

Wow! That explains a lot. I never got quite that aggressive. I was told by somebody here to go one Tblspn per cup, and I know that wasn't enough to do what I wanted. I did use a lot more, but stiffness wasa huge issue. I never got anywhere close to 1:1. I wanted the feet on my frogs to still kick. LOL. I guess the answer then is to make the bodies out of a floating mix and the feet out of raw plastic (plus color etc.)

Yes sir, 1:1. It did KILL the action because of the stiffness. I also did as you mentioned, and made the legs without microspheres and the body with microspheres. This does work, but it is hard to get the colors uniform. Now, if you want, say, a black frog with Chartreuse legs, this technique works great.

I use 1/4 to 1/2 tsp to 8 oz of plastic.I only use bubbles in my trick worms. They stand straight up with a 1/0 hook in them.Nice affect. They don't seem to stiff up to much.I also soak them in a scent oil or add some to the plastic to try and keep them soft.

I have a short viedo but can not figure out how to attach it .I have it on otisbaitco facebook.

Sorry for the double video.I am new to some of this social media stuff. The blue and pumkin is my Okeechobee Craw and the other is Carters Majik.Carters Majik first time in the water caught a 11 # Large Mouth. There is a current flow from right to left in the aquarium. The worms still stand up in the current. Each color in the okeechobee 1/4 to1/2 tsp of bubbles per 8oz of plastic. The Carters Majik has about 1/2 tsp.

ALWAYS BE REAL CAREFUL BREATHING THIS STUFF.You will fill it in your lungs. It is in the smoke from the plastic too.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I made some 12" plum open-pour worms last night with 1 tablespoon of flotation additive per cup of plastic. It really whitens the color so i had to use a lot more colorant and also offset with black. The color is still different because the entire worm becomes so opaque. I tested the worms on a jig in the hot tub, and while they do not go vertical, they do stand about 35 to 40 degrees off of vertical. I sent several packages to friends today to get some feedback so we shall see.

If someone knows where to buy a darker colored float additive, please let me know. Thanks
