Hey Jerry, like the new opening page.

It's a nice facelift to a great site. You

said you didn't have time to fish, if

there is anyway I can help you with

the site, I will be glad to do so. I am

retired and have the time. About the

only thing I know about computers is

how to turn it on, but I am willing to learn.

Thanks Coley,

I figured since the community puts so much into the site that I'd put some of the work on the homepage.

I'm catching up on the work I missed, look for more stuff coming soon.

As to helping with the site, you contribute without realizing it; you come to help or learn something new everyday, thats what its about. :D

As to fishing, Im making time. I took my 3 year old out in the backyard canal last weekend & he outfished me on a handpoured grub: 3 bluegill & a bass. :D

Thanks Skeeter,

I might change it from time-2-time to add different baits & pics you guys have amassed here.

Coley, the smile on thier faces when they bring a fish out makes it worth all the effort of takin em along doesnt it?

Great lookin kid, Cole.

Good looking boys you got there guys, i really like to see the kids enjoying themselves. i know you guys know how important they are, but man, when you don't have them around anymore it really makes you realize that they are everything. sorry kinda straying off topic.

Yeah, Red the site is looking good, thanks

I agree guy's(about the kids).

I took my 9 year old grandson in a BASS fundraiser tournament last fall. He hasn't stopped talking about it yet. He now is asking to replace my partner in the Provincial Pro Tour.

It's the greatest thing for them. There are too many distractions out there that lead them to no where and lots of trouble.

Maybe we should have a kids photo gallery. What do ya think Red?

I agree on all points Nova,

Theres quite a few pics of kids keepers in the trophy room.

Actually Id like to see more "take a kid fishing" programs.

I was searching awhile back for kids angler related charities & sad to say I didnt find much. I know Wal-mart/flw has one but I'm more inclined to offer up to smaller charities.

Maybe we can start something like this in the future, where manufacturers can donate excess tackle & a lil free time to teaching the kids about the joys of fishing. Id be glad to offer incentives.

maybe something to think about.

I read more and more lately about kids fishing programs being cancelled. :(

Most of the reasons revolve around lack of funding and support. I have about 10 spinning rods and reels that I have held onto for the purpose of donating to one of these charities. They are just old setups that I haven't used in years, no value. But with a little cleaning up, they would be great for a young child to catch a fish on.

I have found a couple of places that I could donate too, but they all would require about $50 shipping. If I can find something semi-local or someone willing to pick them up I would be happy to donate them.

We have a couple of small but good programs here in south Louisiana.

One is the "Fishing Rod Lady" Kay Florane, she takes donated rods and reels, mono, lures, etc, makes sure they are in great shape and donates them to underprivaledged kids in the Nawlins area.

The other is with the Bayou Bungle Fishing Club, we hold an annual "fish-catchin' contest" called The Bungle in the Jungle and one of the days we take at-risk kids on all our boats. Most of these kids have never been on a boat nor caught a fish before. Pics of last-year's event can be seen on my album site.

Kids and fishing is one of my softspots.

I have three kids and theyfish all the time, my oldest daughter started tourny fishing when she was 8.

Here in AZ the Glendale dare tourny puts on a real tourny for kids and kids only, they get tons and volenterrs and alot of donations

heres some pics from the last 2 events. we been doing it for 4 years now.

if you have a cable or dsl line click the slide show.

goto http://www.azbasszone.com then click on the azbasszone gallery, it should be the first album and 2 years are in there now. just click on the pics to see a ton of them.

A guy that runs the tournamnets here in AZ does the weigh-ins, MOst adults dont fish for the kids with the exception of casting or untangling there line. Most kids use softplastics baits,, and cranks etc. very little live bait is used.

Rich Stringer, John ramsey and the rest of the Glendale az police dept. host this event .

If you would like to get an event like this started in your area post a msg on the forum to rich stringer or boat cop.

Speaking of the devil...Kay posted this today:

RodNReelGal Report:

Just recently delivered 35 rod & reel combo's with a huge tackle box full of "stuff" over to the K Bar B Ranch in Lacombe. This beautiful facility located on 40 wooded acres on the north shore houses about 20 children who have been abandoned, etc. from their parents. They have a very nice pond which when restored will offer these kids a wonderful opportunity to wet a line. Thanks to Mark Schexnayder (LSU AG/Seagrant) and Dr. Brian LeBlanc, this old pond full of duckweed and gunk is being cleaned up and stocked with fish. Now these kids will have another form of therapy: fishing! Additionally the ranch would like very much to obtain a little pedal boat or just a small flatboat which could be used in the pond. If anyone would like to donate to them, please contact the administrator--Jenny Fabacher at 985-641-1425---tell her I sent ya!

Good fishin'.

In my area the RCMP have a program where they will give a "borderline kid" a bicycle and our bass club joined in and we buy the kid a fishing combo to go with the bike. We have a large lake right at the town line with a marina; so it's easy for the kids to go there and fish.
