smalljaw
It looks as if they will be made exclusively for Trokar hooks and since Trokar and Eagle Claw are one in the same you can bet there isn't going to be to many alternatives, I doubt even Mustad will have any other hooks. I heard the Trokar hooks for the molds will be sold in 15 packs, so I'm not sure how specialized the hooks or the molds will be. It isn't that I have anything against Trokar hooks, I like them but using them exclusively for a particular bait isn't going to be worth getting any of the new molds which will include a stand up style shaky head, football jig, flipping style arkie jig, and a spinnerbait, but the new shaky head and spinnerbait are going to be hard for me to resist but the ultra minnow spinnerbait I use now is an incredible design in the way it comes through grass that I really don't need another design. What is everyone elses thoughts about this.
Gloomisman
thats a pretty big risk to make a hook specific mold especially when not many people use the hook.
smalljaw
I think that there may be some wiggle room, but most molds have to be made atleast for a particular angle and wire size. I don't make many lead molds, but those I do are made based around specific wires and hooks. That is true of the molds we know and I may be wrong but from what I have read, Trokar and Do-it worked together on this and Trokar developed special hooks just for these baits and when I heard that plus the fact the hooks are going to come 15 to a pack that makes me think that the hooks are going to be different from any other hook on the market. I know what you're saying like certain molds are made for a 60 degree standard wire hook and most hook manufacturers make that type of hook but it sounds like these will be different, I'm not sure. Real Deal Custom Tackle
I will be interested in seeing them as well. I know that a dremel tool can work wonders for getting hooks into molds though depending on the design. Out of all the molds I own, only about 25% are resaleable due to that little tool.....lol
andy1976
So far I have been able to get many different hooks in my molds one way or another with out to much difficulty. We can go in on a order of a thousand at shortys. I think they are $.50 each when you get them by the 1000.
