AweStarCustomBaits
Hey everyone! I have an interesting topic starter. If you were going to have ONLY 10 stock colors in your Line of products, what would they be? I understand that colors change from region to region across the country, so I think it is interesting to see what everyone thinks. I am trying to narrow down my Color Line for stock colors, and then of course produce Custom Colors for customers on request. I want to start with 10 colors in the line, and then make changes based off of sales/production. I am having a hard time narrowing it down at the moment and would like to know what/how you would do it. And your Top 10 List Is....................... carolinamike
Greg, Toadfrog has given you a good start. You will find that all across the country that some form of watermellon and green pumpkins are a standard, different colors of flake will vary from region to region. I basicaly started this same sort of thread a few years back when I done a product test with North American Fishing Club magazine( which is a very economical way for a small person to advertise ) I think the name of the thread was "Colors across the U.S." or something like that. If you could find that thread, there was alot of good colors named for all different parts of the country, I used this information to pick out the colors for the test. If you can find it I think it will be a great help to you, there were some great posts made and it really helped me alot.
AweStarCustomBaits
Hey Mike, I totally agree about the Watermelon's and Green Pumpkins. Natural Colors. I am just trying to get some debate and ideas about what is used the most around the regions. Thanks for the info about the past post, ill definately search for it!

RayburnGuy
Do you have to be in the business of pouring plastics or can anyone play? Ben
AweStarCustomBaits
Absolutely not! I want everyones opinion! As a matter of fact, anglers not in the business would be more valuable to contribute!
RayburnGuy
OK here's my for what it's worth. These are not in any order. Just some colors that have always worked for me. Black Neon (black/red flake) Watermelon Watermelon/red flake Red Bug Smoke w/red or silver flake or both Green Pumpkin I know that's not 10 colors, but if I can't get bit on one of those I feel like I need to be throwing something besides plastic. Black neon has always been a go to color for me as well as a big fish bait. I feel it's one color that seems to be under rated by a lot of people. Maybe because most folks think it's a night fishing color. I like it in worms, tubes, ring worms and just about anything else that's made out of plastic. Hope this helps. carolinamike
I think the state of Texas have troopers that sit at the state line that wait for anglers to cross into Texas, and I think if they dont have some type of watermellon red bait they can be arrested or sent back across state line . I know one thing for sure watermellon red flake is king in Texas, a have to have in that state.
Little man baits
@carolinamike same here north of the border in Ontario that color is a must have!!
FishBones
I'll go more basic. A white A red A green Black Chartreuse A brown A blue Then the list explodes when you add in pearls of any of these, once again when you double them up to clear and opaques. J lure
Ok here's one, translucent or opaque colors?
FishBones
That's a good one. When I first started I only wanted to do translucents, that didn't work lol. So far my best successes have been both together, one over the other.

J lure
I think we need to narrow this down a little bit more. What's your top two or three colors per style of soft plastic such as, minnow/swim bait, worm straight tail, worm ribbon tail, senko, frog, crayfish, lizard, creature and any others.
Richard Prager
3 x 8 = 24 are all the combos you can get with what you're pouring I would advise offering all of your baits in the same colors. Only way to do it unless you have 20 molds of each bait. Offer all of them in Watermelon, Green Pumpkin, black, etc. What are they throwing in your area? Cub48
Black , Blue, Green Pumpkin, Chartruese, White, Silver, Motor oil, Yellow, Grape, Red, I;ll add Silver holographic, Red Flake, Black Flake, White Pearl. It will depend on the kind of baits you are making my colors are for Crappie and Bass If I were only Bass Baits I would not use the white, silver, or yellow. And with Crappie no motor oil, green pumpkin. or grape. I know fish will bite all colors. I have my Bass colors and my Crappie colors!
