RayburnGuy
I've got an ABU Garcia 6500Ci that I'm doing some tinkering with and would like to know if it can be converted to a magnetic braking system? Or does anyone know where I might get the answer to that question? I've looked at reel schematics until I'm cross-eyed and without holding the parts in my hand can't tell whether it's possible or not. Any help would be appreciated. thanks guys, Ben
Dink Master
Try to talk to Don Iovino. http://www.iovino.com/reels.html
RayburnGuy
Thanks Dink Master. I found a place online today that builds and sells an end plate that will convert my centrifugal braking reel into one with magnetic braking. Everything is complete and all you have to do is take the old end plate off and install the new one with no modifications necessary. Thanks again for the link. I did save bookmark it for future use. Musky Glenn
RayBurnGuy, Did you happen to see any places that sell slow speed gears for the round Garcia reels? I would really like to have a set of slow left hand gears. What was the site where you found your end cap? Musky Glenn
RayburnGuy
Glenn I looked at a bunch of different sites in the last few days and it seems that some of them sold gears for round ABU's. I'll go back and do some checking and if I can find them again I'll post the link. Here's the link to the end plate. Ben http://www.therocket...company.com/en/ p.s. Here's another link that might prove helpful to you. It has schematics of a ton of different reels. They also have a forum dedicated to just discussions on reels. http://www.mikesreelrepair.com/index.php Edited July 27, 2012 by RayburnGuy
