barrysbaits
Has anyone ever came across colored ss wire? Just thought this would add a cool twist to some of my spinnerbaits. Also, does anyone know any thing about piano wire. I've heard that it has better vibration than ss wire. Any help with these questions would be very much appreciated. smalljaw
I haven't seen any coils of wire that are colored but I know Barlows sells a prebent spinnerbait wireform in what is called "camo finish" or something like that. The wire I buy doesn't come in color either but I have used metal dye to color some wire at a friends request but it didn't last too long. cadman
I have not seen colored wire either. You can do what smalljaw suggested and get blade dye or you can try permanent magic markers. However I don't believe that it will stay on the stainless as stainless steel is not pourous. fishaholic5
Hydrochloric acid will turn stainless to shades of dark grey or black, It doesn't scrub off real easy either. There's probably a few other products that will too but I'm not game to spill them on the sink to find out lol Cheers Wal
F-Minus
They sell single strand stainless steel leader wire that I've seen in brown color. American Fishing Wire brand comes to mind, and many different gages (but its sold in pound test). Piano wire is a special high-hardness spring temper steel. As far as 'better vibration' I dont know. As I understand it all steel basically has the same elastic modulus (springyness) its just that spring temper steels may be deflected further and still return to their original shape, they're 'stronger'. Piano wire will rust.
Real Deal Custom Tackle
I buy the 1lb rolls from American fishing in a bronze finish for some of my rigs. It is listed in lb test but there is also normally a diameter listed as well. If u have a tax I'd u can buy directly from them
