Painter1
I am looking for a suggestion on how to inject molds using 2/3 of one color and 1/3 of another. I have Bears Twinjectors. Thanks
smallmouthaholic
For what reason? Laminates are not good or effective enough?
Painter1
For what reason? Laminates are not good or effective enough? I don't know about you, but for me the enjoyment of this hobby is to make things that are different and try them. I want to make a bait with a dominant color (2/3) and an underbelly (1/3) accent color. I think it will more closely "match the hatch" where I fish. I already have the injection molds, but don't know how to get a consistent unbalanced laminate. Ideas and experiences welcome.
MonteSS
Hand pour the 1/3. Then injevt the 2/3. ...Bill
Frank
The reason does not matter to me, But I did work with it at one time. It did work ok but had more to do with the mold.I used a smaller diameter injector on one side to see if it would make a back color thinner and like I said it worked for me but did not make as much a differance as I though it would. I also tried three injectors with a small one in the middle to make a vein but did not show well. Being you have a system that does not promote change you may want to try and block off part of one side and see if that works. Frank

Painter1
Hand pour the 1/3. Then injevt the 2/3. ...Bill Thanks, Bill. I hadn't thought of that, but it sounds like the best solution.
mark poulson
I have not tried this, but would heating one color hotter make it blend into the other color more at the seam, and make it more pronounced/dominant?
martbaz
only way i see it working with a twinjector is if u have one injectors bigger than the other and im not talking about the nozzle ....cuz if you only have different nozzles you are still pressing in as much material as before just one is coming out easier than the other ....managing to press independently each injector at different speeds... i could be wrong but its my theory
CrabbyBass
Hand pour the 1/3. Then injevt the 2/3. ...Bill X2. I was going to suggest doing this as well. It will take more time to hand pour than injecting, but you will get your desired results.
Painter1
I took Bill's advice and tried it. For the record, it works well.
Frank
There has been some talk that that way has way of seperating pretty easy. Not right away but in awhile. Just a note of concern. Frank
Painter1
Dad gum it. They looked good out of the mold, but after reading Franks' post I checked them out. They have been in a bag with worm oil for a few days and at least one of them has delaminated. A guy might be able to do more damage if picking at them. I will play with some higher temps on the initial pour and let y'all know. (I don't know if we are yankees or southerners here in Missouri - but we do say y'all from time to time;).
