Saltfisher
I was told you use kosher salt and grind it up into a powder. Seems everything i use doesn't work as good as bears salt from his website. Either I get chunks in my plastic, or it's very visible. What do you guys use? nova
Electric coffee grinder. They're about $15. Make sure you clean it out after use. Pickling salt is 100% pure and is cheaper. www.novalures.com
Richard Prager
I used Morton's Kosher(green box) Pickling Salt. Right out of the box. If you powder the salt, sure it suspends better, but the baits look like crap in my opinion. I prefer a translucent bait that allows for light reflection and refraction. If you powder the salt then the only flake you will see is what's on the outside of the bait. Stir every two sticks if you hand pour or get a Presto Pot with a stirrng system. Like I said above "I prefer" Edited October 5, 2012 by 152nd Street Baits

Saltfisher
I have been using kosher salt and a grinder, but I can still see the white specs. I'm going to change to the pickling salt, and try that.
Duane's Custom Baits
I have used the salt from lurecraft for 10 yrs with NO complants from any of my customers, it's a fine baking salt.

martbaz
i use coarse cooking salt and grind it down to a fine powder with a magic bullet haha it works with everything !! lol
Richard Prager
I still don't understand why any body would want to use powdered salt? Why bother putting flake in. You can control the size of the flake you like. Also, a blender does a great job and holds a heck of allot more salt than the grinder. Feed stores are also a great place to buy salt cheap! JMO but I value it greatly!
Duane's Custom Baits
I only did it once, when I was in a bind and used salt for a water softern system, I normally use the fine baking salt from Lure Craft.
Bass-Boys
I use fine salt from the local bakery rite out of the bag. It does change the color of the baits some but I think all salt does.

Saltfisher
I was looking for the mortons pickling salt, and didnt see it at my local grocery store. Any other salts I can buy at my local store that work good without grinding? I want to try and stay away from grinding because it turns the salt white, and colors the plastic white also. Just usually add salt to everything to add a little weight when using senkos weightless T-rigged in deeper water.
MonteSS
I only found the Morton's pickling salt in the green box at Walmart. ....Bill
Saltfisher
Ok thanks. I will look there. I'm going to just add it to the plastic without grinding and see how that works. I will post back my results.

carolinamike
Guys, Look for a resturant supplier or bakery supplier. This is what I did and I get the Morton purex fine salt in 50 lb bags for 11 bucks, I drive 45 miles to pick it up , but its cheaper than paying UPS freight on it.
