Big Boy Baits
Looking for big swimbait molds, like 6 inches plus, maybe up to 9 inches? Not just a paddletail, kind of a trout bait? Maybe linethrough? I have looked around but cannot find anything of the sort. Any tips guys? Or should I just go ahead and get a custom mold cut. Thanks
MonteSS
Sounds like you are looking for a hudd style mold and tail. I dont think there is anything available like that. BassTackle has the biggest selection of swimbait molds. Custom mold like that will cost you over a thousand dollars. ...Bill
Big Boy Baits
No, I actually want a normal boottail, not a huddleston style. But I will keep looking. A 7" line through would be killer.
djs
Most of the popular trout type swimbaits are made from silicone molds. The molds are made from a hand carved master model. These molds are either injected or hand poured or both. Some will say you should not inject two piece silicone molds but that is the way it is done. Here is some of my line through swims I make and I also have made a few top hook swims also.

Saugerman
djs, those are great looking baits.Did you make the masters yourself?
djs
Yes, I made the master myself. The first time I carved it out of wood, and this last model (different fins) is a mix of smooth-on plastic that was cast into the original mold, bondo, wood putty, paint and anything I could find to work. Here is a link to a bait that was made from my original hand carved wood model. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/gallery/image/9905-top-hook-swimbait/
