ravenlures
Just wondering what you prefer. #1 Open lupe, #2 Twisted end, #3 What I call a barrel roll. All using the same size wire. .040 .
JSC
Different Strokes for Different Folks .....Best answer for that question that I can think of.
toadfrog
Open wire for inland fishing . If its saltwater best to use twisted loop eye . Those fish are mean and tricky .
Mumpy
I asked this question to a group of Fishermen on a football discussion board and although #1 got the most responses as their favorite, a lot of them were exactly what JSC has said, different strokes for different folks, but to go deeper into that, it seems that a lot of them liked the twisted better on heavier Spinnerbaits with larger blades. smalljaw
I like the "R" bend or classic style, I lost a fish and a spinnerbait using a closed loop because I let the bait sink and the line got caught in the loop and that was all she wrote, so the open is for me. Tony Maxwell
If you are talking about the line tie loop definitely the R bend (open loop). with .040 or bigger that provides more than enough strength. Also an R bend allows a little more vibration to be transmitted through the entire bait. I personally use .030 for 1/8 or 1/4 oz spinnerbaits and .035 for 3/8 oz. baits. Have no problems with strength. Tony
Musky Glenn
I like the closed loop so the snap doesn't slide down against the blades. I really like .029 for vibration, forget about how long they last. They just catch more fish (for me). Do you know how bad a 1/4 oz. spinner bait looks after it catches a 20 # musky? That is just the price we pay. Musky Glenn
