MonteSS
But would just the silica make it more durable? That is what I like about the HD
Frank
But would just the silica make it more durable? That is what I like about the HD Am I wrong or is silica sand? Maybe a form of sand. Grits would be like asking about the fine salt or coarse one.
Anglinarcher
I don't have a dog in this hunt, but ..... when I was in college I use to test material samples for commercial and government agencies using the Electron Microscope. One of those materials was a silica powder that a mining company had found that they wanted to mine for polishing optics. This stuff was finer then talcum powder, felt like cream in your hands. Too bad the Electron Microscope showed that a high percentage of the crystals was too sharp for the intended use. In short, you can obtain silica (some sand is silica) in stuff so fine that you cannot really call it grit. Sorry, don't live near Soda Springs Idaho anymore so ....... I can't go out and shovel you a 5 gallon bucket of the stuff.

army-boot
You think something like http://www.riogrande.com/Product/Glass-Bead-Blasting-Media-Extra-Fine-Grade/336193 would work? Or would that be too fine?
wallyc14
I'm no expert but I would imagine so
mark poulson
picture in the light the 1st to left is salt, middle is ccm hd,right is glass blasting media The glass bead media seems to be the most translucent of the three. Let us know how it affects durability. One of the neat things about the Caney Creek additive is that it seems to make the baits both flexible and strong. I have no clue how that works. wallyc14
Don't know? However I have noticed they are more flexible than the ones with salt we will find out tomorrow
MonteSS
I would thinkthat like powdered salt, the extra fine silica would cloud the bait more. Might be a good idea to wash and dry it good to get any powder off it. How does the 80 grit suspend?
wallyc14
Pretty well so far my senko mold likes foolish plastic so I really have not had any problems and as far as washing I poured some in my hands and poured out of my hands with no dust
wallyc14
Well no fish to test durability but I checked action and I can say they have a little more action in the water when wacky rigging .
