tbrinlee
I had a chance to spend some time with my dad the last few weeks just setting in the garage making jigs. A lot like we used to do. He's getting up there now (guess I am too) and these opportunities don't come by that often. Probably had more fun the last couples weeks than the last 30 years. Thanks for all the tips on this site. Lead pots, powder paint the whole lot. Found a new use for my wifes metallic thread. It turns out if you wind them on jigs and leave the tag ends on, and the tinsel strand will hang down the side and looks like a lateral line. cadman
That's cool doing stuff with your dad. I really didn't have that oppurtunity as my dad wasn't interested in anything fishing.
BLT
Glad you had a great time with Dad. Get as many as you can, I started fishing the year my Dad passed away. Missed out on a lot of good times.
tbrinlee
Gonna see if I can find a crappie guide on Lake Lavon next week. Maybe we can pick up a few. Should be fun anyway. We tied over a hundred jigs between the two of us. Probably 25 different color combinations. Now I need to see if we can go find a brush pile and try and loose a few jigs. If your not in the brush you're not on the crappie! Tony
Oldfart9999
Congrats on the time with your Dad, I lost mine when I was 26 and have sorely missed him ever since. Rodney
RAWJigs
Like Cadman said, mine is the same way, except he fishes, just not often ....
subsailor618
Very Cool. My dad always had time to take us fishing and do 'fishing' stuff with us growing up. We fished regularly together until I left to go into the service and he continued with the rest of the family. He finally started slowing down on in his 60s and then when my Mom passed away he stopped altogether but he still has some great fishing stories from when were growing up! It is always better with family for me and mine!
tbrinlee
I didn't really mean for this to end up being a sappy thread. I just thought that it is cool to share something simple and enjoyable sometimes. So.. On the lighter side Dad flattened some of the round heads a bit so we could put some eyes on them. they should be really cool. Probably will catch more fisherman than fish! I'll post some pictures from the garage later in the week. Tony
