aaron4mvp
Hey guys, I was wondering if you put clear coat on plastic crank bait bodies before painting? It seems that when I paint on just the plain plastic, the paint has a dull look, versus a wet look when painting on a layer of clear coat. Let me know your thoughts. bassguy
Any of the plastic blanks I've painted, I'd sand first to scuff up the surface and remove any mold ridges, then a primer coat, then paint as usual and finish with D2T. Musky Glenn
It seems to me that the flatter the paint the more shine I get with the clear coat. Musky Glenn
RayburnGuy
On plastic cranks I give them a quick dip in clean acetone to remove any contaminants and then go straight to painting. Ben
Hokieangler
Maybe start with a transparent after sanding and wiping down with DA.
A-Mac
you can make a 3D look by putting clear coats in between paint layers.
Skeeter
Just paint the bait. Once you put the clear coat on the bait the paint will gloss. If it does not then it is the paint or colors that you are using. Skeeter
