pikeone
Hi all . I'm going to make a mold using a soft plastic shad lure as master. The shad lure has two very soft pectoral fins . I'm afraid due to the soft fins I can't make a good mold. How can I do to make rigid the pectoral fins,so to make a good mold? Every suggestions will be appreciate. pikeone
andy1976
You can buy a alginate kit from michaels for making hand impressions. I would do it vertically in a tube head up. It sets up fast. The colder the water the slower. Shad baits are best done vertically because it keeps the original shape of the tail. After its sets pull it out and pour in pop. Here's a link but it's pretty cheap at michaels. http://www.fineartstore.com/Catalog/tabid/365/List/1/CategoryID/23736/Level/a/Default.aspx?SortField=unitcost%2Cunitcost
