Protec Powder Color Watermelon Pepper ?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used this color before and if so can it be used in a fluid bed? The reson I ask is I got away from using the protec just because of price but I found that their special colors with flake in the mix like copperhead and watermelon red flake look really good but you can't use them with a fluidbed because the flake and powder seperate. I found a way to make it work but it isn't good for making more than a dozen or so at a time because it is a slow process and that is why I want to know about this color. I got a jighead sent to me by someone who wants the same color on a jig I make and I never saw the color and it looked great, it was a watermelo or light green pumpkin with tiny tiny black specke through it, the person didn't know the name of the paint but they knew it was protec powder and the only paint that comes close is watermelon pepper. So if anyone has used it can you tell me if it works in a fluid bed as these tiny specks don't look like flake, thanks for the help.

Smalljaw,

I have used it and yes I really like this color. I was in the process of buying a pound from Pro-tec, but was waiting on if I had other colors to purchase. Anyway, the color isn't really watermelon and black spots for pepper. This is more of a dark metallic glossy green. I personally like this ever since I've seen it over green pumpkin, because it is closer to the dk green /black side. I got about a 1/2 ounce to try out from one of my customers. I can't tell you if it will work in a fluid bed. But if you haven't seen it, I think you will really like it.

I like the jig armor paints but no way am I paying $7.50 for 2 oz when I pay that much for a half pound from columbia coatings. I just wanted to know if anyone used this color and if so was able to be used in a fluid bed. I get skirt Material from Charles at fishingskirts and that is good stuff but the paint is too much for powder, even protec is a little high in price but not that bad. I just needed info on that protec color and Cadman helped me out, so thanks but no thanks on the jig armor line of paint, I'll find a substitute before I pay that much for 2oz of powder paint.
