Ken 6645
Has anyone ever tried treated wood posts ... cleaning out my garage I found several different types of wood, one was regular pine , the other was treated pine and two were redwood....I also found a thick slab of yellow popular or yellow pine[12in by 24] Are any of these woods really a good wood to build with Thanks Ken chantil@roadrunner.com
bassguy
I've built several baits out of redwood and yellow pine. There is a fellow in town that uses poplar for his baits. Jerry
littleriver
I would not use the treated lumber because the chemicals used to treat the lumber are most likely toxic.
littleriver
All the untreated lumber should be ok. I have used pine. It works well but the grain is a pain to hide. Also used popular and it's grain is not so hard to hide but found the wood harder to carve. But both made usable lures.
BobP
Until a few years ago, wood was treated with arsenic to deter insects. You don't wanna use it to make lures.
