bobothewizard
Evening all, I am looking for a top pour 2" minnow mold as close as I can get to a bobby garland 2" Baby shad. It needs to be a open mold so I can "spoon" in 2 colors. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
carolinamike
LureCraft has the largest selection of open pour molds.
carolinamike
I don't believe any of those are open pour Bob, are they? They look like injection molds to me. You don't need a laminating plate for open pours.
bobothewizard
I guess I could use the aluminum molds but I was just looking for an open mold just for the cost. What is the procedure when using these laminate molds? I assume you shoot first with the laminate mold on so you only shoot half, then let the plastic cool, pull them out and remove the tabs finally put the baits back in and remove the laminate plate and attach your regular mold plate and shoot again with the other color? I just didnt want to spend $70 on a mold where I will most likely make 20-30 baits a year. But thank you for the suggestions. Jig Man
I have the Jacob's mold. If you only want just a few, I might make them for you. But if you get the mold you won't have just a few. I probably have close to 1000 of them laying around in the shop and I'm fixin' to make some more if it rains on Monday. bobothewizard
Jig Man, thanks for the offer. I see electric chicken in your pic I think I might just pick up the mold. I assume for the 3 color one in the lower right, you spooned in the very bottom color first? Or is that silver color just from the flash and its actually black? Jig Man
It is just black and bubble gum. I have never tried to make a 3 color one. I don't think it could be done very well. I use 2 injectors with a blending block for lams. Edited December 2, 2012 by Jig Man
