ipt
Don't have too many options for storage here. Is it unhealthy to store your plastisol & other liquids inside your house? Also what are the desired temperatures for storage? The garage isn't heated and it gets below freezing outside. Any storage tips would be great! Thanks. Jig Man
I have always kept mine in an unheated garage. If you have kids I don't think inside the house would be a good idea as there is no telling what they might do with it.

DaBehr
PVC and the other ingredients that we use are safe to store indoors (according to their MSDS). I would keep everything tightly capped and absolutely away from children. I wouldn't put it directly beside your furnace ...or something like that...but a shelf in the basement is common practice. CCM states that their plastic is good to -50F...and I suspect that is true of others. PVC when it gets too hot (burns/smokes) IS toxic. If you have any questions, request the MSDS (material safety data sheet) for each material (most have the info on their site.)
cbj11lbs
Plastisol is Oil Based and it wont freeze up...only concern for storage is getting it too hot which im sure you are not in any danger of being in New England, Go Patriots!!! carolinamike
Guys mine is stored outside in an open air shed and catches a north wind and we get down into the twenties and teens and i have never had a problem, just as long as its stored where you cant get any moisture in it, then you are ok. One more thing I need to mention if you store it out side and buy it by the drum dont let water get on top of the drum even if its sealed, the natural expanding and contracting will actually cause it to suck water in at the top, I learned this lesson the hard way. bobothewizard
Glad you posted this question. I was also curious about keeping my plastic out in my un-heated garage.

nova
I live at lot further north than you folks and I've been doing this for over 20 years. I store mine in an unheated, uninsulated garage. There has never been a problem. Don't worry about it.
wnybassman
I keep my gallons in my unheated barn/shop. I just put them in a place that I can see them, so it reminds me to give them a shake every once and a while. lol
Smallie
I keep my plastisols and my softener in five gallon containers under my pouring bench. I saved empty windshield washer gallon jugs and keep a gallon of each blend in a plastic tray with 3 inch high sides. As DaBehr noted, there are not any health reasons to keep the material out of doors. As far as safety for children goes, I have paint thinner, acetone, denatured alcohol, stabil and a whole lot of other things that are not "kid friendly" in my basement and I am sure everyone else does too. Take the same precautions you take with these household chemicals and your children will be safe.
