Oldfart9999
Last year I bought the Do-It RVB-5-AF weedless ballhead jig mold. The mold doesn't come with base pins but I didn't want to mold the weedguard into the jig so tying jigs would be easier. I had the machinist where I worked get me some 5/64 drill rod and made my own, while I made a couple of pours of 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 with no trouble. Last week I went to pour all the sizes, 1/32 and 1/16 also. I wasn't able to close the mold, the search for the reason began. The base pins I made wouldn't fit right in the 2 small jigs, the weedguards probably would have worked but I wanted to use the base pins. I wound up sitting and scraping the slots out with a sharp knife, took me a while but I was able to make the pins fit. If you have the same problem a sharp pocket knife and taking your time can fix the problem. Rodney
flippinfool
Why not just use the teflon pins? Even if they are tight, they are easy to trim. http://www.barlowstackle.com/Teflon-Base-Hole-Pins-P2186.aspx

Even if they are tight, they are easy to trim. http://www.barlowsta...Pins-P2186.aspx The 5/32 are twice the size of what I needed which is 5/64. The drill rod was free, it worked in the three largest just not the other two, it wasn't hard to do, I just took my time so that I didn't over do it. smalljaw
I know this is late Rodney but there was an easier solution. Remember when you sent me a few of those 5/64" rod? (Thank you again, they are really valuable!) Well before I got those I was using a finishing nail and I wrapped teflon tape around it as it was 1/16" and the smaller sizes on that mold use the FG9 weedguard which is the 1/16" one. It is good to know that you can use the pocket knife though, it may be a tough way to make a modification but if you only need to remove a small amount of material it will work, so thanks for that!! Jig Man
I have a mold that the pins won't fit in the smaller slots so I use 12 g romex with a piece of duct tape to hold it in place in the mold.

gterry
Bring up McMAster-Carr on line and search for Teflon Rods. They come in various diameters.
